In a private innistrad draft we occured a situation that we did not realy know which rulings apply to, the situation was the following.

Active Player controls a thraben sentry and atacks with a 3/3 creature, defending player blocks it with a Pitchburn devil. Defending player asked if he can now destroy the sentry with the 3 dmg of the devil. We decided that it's probably not possibly since it happens the same time, but still I would like to know if this is correct and which actual rules apply to the situation.

Thanks to everyone.

Both abilities (thraben sentry's trigger to transform and bitchburn devils' deal 3 damage to target creature/player) trigger at the same time and go onto the stack in APNAP (active player - non active player) order.

So Thraben sentry's trigger goes onto the stack first followed by devils'. Then if nothing else happens, they resolve in reverse order and sentry dies before it can transform.
