|
|
Welcome to Create a Card: Round 63!!
With the human being wreaking ever more havoc on the environments upon which we depend, this week's competition seeks to promote awareness of what we have lost through our own carelessness.
Aim: Design an extinct creature.
parameters:
* It must be mythic (extinct is rarer than rare).
* It must be single coloured.
* It must be playable in the current T2 Format (no clearly broken cards thanks).
## Note: Any extinct creature is feasible (not just those lost as a direct consequence of human idiocy).
The competition will judged on 4 categories (each out of 5):
1) Juice: (how cool your card is).
2) Power: (How hard does your creature push the acceptable power threshold).
3) Innovation.
4) Flavour (Including but not limited to: how much does your designed card feel like the extinct creature it represents).
Good luck to all.
Competition will be judged WEDNESDAY the 10th.
Edited: for a more rounded competition...

The problem with real-world animals is they're kind of vanilla, and that doesn't really lend itself to mythic-ness even at a high power level.
Ancient Smilodon (Mythic)
WW
Creature - Cat
2/2
First Strike
When Ancient Smilodon dies, put two artifact tokens into play under your control. These tokens are equipment with "Equip: 1" and "Equipped creature gets +1/+0 and gains first strike."
A successful smilodon hunt meant not only a fine pelt but a glistening new pair of daggers as well.
(Smilodon was the sabre-toothiest of the sabre-tooth cats). |

That is awesome, but should be mana coast less, but that might make it too wordy. |

Thylacine pack

Creature - Thylacine
1GG
Tap: Destroy target creature with toughness less than Thylacine pack's power, put a +1/+1 counter on Thylacine pack.
Tap an untapped human, elf or goblin you control: put a -1/-1 counter on Thylacine pack. Gain 2 life. Any player may activate this ability
4/5
Often hunted for sport or food, this beast saw it's numbers decline as other humanoids took over it's traditional hunting grounds

Raptor - M
GGG
Creature- Dinosaur
Raptor can't be countered
(stealing a few old keywords)
Shroud
When ~ enters the field, search your library for up to two other cards named ~, and put them into your hand.
Flanking
Banding with ~.
~ Can't band with another creature not named ~.
3/3
~insert Jurassic park quote here~
Hey. you said make it mythic, I made it mythic good- without being INSANELY broken. Just very, very, very, very close to broken.
I felt that given how Raptors worked, that the two keys on them were appropriate- also given what shroud is, in theory, I felt it was right- hexproof would have been broken. Any larger P/T would be unkillable, as well as being able to band with a non-raptor.
On that note, I did use an already established tribal type =D.
Lastly, considering adding in Rampage X, where X is the number of N you control.... that might be the straw that turns this from good into retardedly broken though. (Also, it would cause judges everywhere to try and kill me) |
