As the topic explains, that was my pool for today's release event (went 3-2 in swiss, losing r1 1-2 and r2 1-2). How would you have built the deck? Which card choices? I had to leave some stuff out last minute, even though I was entirely happy with my building, I'd like to know your opinion on it Smile [cards are ordered by color, and inside each color by creatures by cmc, and non-creatures by cmc]

Agree with Magicman, pool tends to GB. And is kinda poor :/

Choices:
Skinshifter
Acidic slime
Greater basilisk
Jade mage
Vastwoodgorger
Llanowar elves
Carnage wurm
Cudgel troll
Giant Spider

Sorins Thirst
Disentomb
Distress
Sorin
Gravedigger
Vampire outcasts
Child of night
Sengir vampire
Zombie goliath

Crown of Empires

would be greedy with such a bad pool and include slight redsplash for double incinerate and treason. Is a risk, but still better then filling even more slots.

That lacks removal. I think red black might be the way to go.

I also think green black is the way to go. I also think you should splash the incinterates. I would play

Green:
Jade Mage
Skinshifter
Cudgel Troll
Giant Spider
Acidic Slime
Carnage Wurm

Black:
Wring Flesh
Consume Spirit
Sorin's Thirst
Distress
Sorin Markov
Child of Night
Devouring Swarm
Gravedigger
Vampire Outcasts
Drifting Shade
Sengir Vampire

Red:
2x Incinerate

Artifact:
Crown of Empires
Druidic Satchel
Manalith

Lands:
10 swamps
6 forests
2 mountains

I might change it up by putting in more bears and take out more expensive spells that aren't bombs or removal.

You have a lot of black cards that want a lot of swamps and green gives you fatties and your best 2 drops.

Well I think the black cards pretty much suck besides the obvious Sorin and his apparent thirstiness....

This to me looks like a RG deck. Red has the good removal/burn to help you both early and late. I would built something like this:

Llanowar Elves
Jade Mage
Skinshifter
Runeclaw Bear
Lurking Crocodile
Brindle Boar
Cudgel Troll
Giant Spider
Acidic Slime
Greater Basilisk
Vastwood Gorger
Carnage Wurm
Reclaim
Arachnus Web

Red
Goblin Arsonist
Stormblood Berserker
Gorehorn Minotaurs
Incinerate
Incinerate
Fling
Act of Treason
Chandraís Outrage
Lava Axe

This looks like a solid sealed deck imo. act of treason + fling (particularly on a guys Titan) is just straight pwnage.

Plus fling is great with all those big green dudes. Reclaim is prolly the worst card here but could be a game closer Very Happy

I agree that you should have went GBr. Here is how I would build it.

Jade Mage
Skinshifter
Cudgell Troll
Acidic Slime
Carnage Wurm
Reclaim
Lurking Crocodile
Brindle Boar

Wring Flesh
Consume Spirit
Sorin's Thirst
Sorin Markov
Duskhunter Bat
Gravedigger
Sengir Vampire
Sutured Ghoul
Hideous Visage
Vampire Outcasts

Incinerate
Incinerate
Act of Treason

Druidic Satchel
Manalith

8 Swamp
6 Forest
3 Mountain

Yeah you could either go GBr with the Incinerates, or GR, possibly GRu to play the two Looters, but either way it sucks that your biggest bomb (Sorin) is in a nearly removal-less black. Rough pool.

I played a similar pool to this for the prerelease and some of the biggest plays were Reclaim for Sorin and Reclaim for Consume Spirit. I gained a lot of respect for Reclaim which basically always ends up being the best card you've drawn so far.

That's what I played, with some comments on cards I didn't play or ended up playing. My build was BGr, splashing for both Incinerates. I am especially interested in your opinion about my maindeck build and the choice of artifacts (didn't play sword, crown or the druidic satchel)

Green
Llanowar Elves
Jade Mage
Skinshifter
Runeclaw Bear (Didn't play it maindeck, sided it in vs agro decks)
Lurking Crocodile (maindecked it, perhaps should have been Brinde Bloar instead)
Brindle Boar (sided it in vs agro decks)
Cudgel Troll
Giant Spider
Acidic Slime
Greater Basilisk (I didnít end up playing this one. I donít like this guy, perhaps Iíve played too much m11 limited. It might be god in sealed though)
Vastwood Gorger
Carnage Wurm
Reclaim (Whereas I can see the awesomeness of this card as a late game great topdeck, I didnít play it)
Plummet (didnít play this one either, even though I ended up sideboarding it almost all the games)
Arachnus Web
Black
Disentomb (considered playing it, but was one of my first cuts. I donít play that many creatures, and I want to stay away from weak starting hands)
Wring Flesh
Consume Spirit
Sorinís Thirst
Distress (I didnít play that one either, BB is tough, and I never liked discard spells in Limited. Bad topdecks in late game)
Hideous Visage (heavily considered playing this, but then as I have no idea about the format, decided it would be more of a sideboard card. Never got it in though)
Sorin Markov
Duskhunter Bat (one of the cards which tended to be sided out the most, I only cast him with Bloodthirst once)
Child of Night
Devouring Swarm (great with Jade Mage Razz)
Gravedigger
Vampire Outcasts
Drifting Shade (thought it would be too slow, even for my deck, as I am lacking mana ramp. Didnít play it)
Sengir Vampire
Zombie Goliath (thought I had better green fatties, so this one didnít make the cut either)
Red
Incinerate (I felt I was missing removal spells, so I decided to splash both incinerates)
Incinerate
Act of Treason (sideboard card, gave me a game)
Artifact
Crown of Empires (is this really good? Looked like a very expensive tapper to me, and thatís why I didnít play it)
Greatsword (I considered playing this, but then last minute cut it. Was I right?)
Druidic Satchel (is this any good?)
Manalith (one fixer for my BGr, yay)
Lands
1 Mountain
9 Swamp
7 Forest

I would maindeck plummet in this format. Satchel is average, but you definitly play it every time i think...

I wouldnt ever maindeck Act of Treason, dunno why everyone is so crazy about the card... Crown of Empires on the other hand i almost always play.

Also Arachnus Web is GOOD! Dunno why noone except Djinn himself even named it

1) Crown is removal, there is absolutely no reason you shouldn't be maindecking it, in any deck, ever.

2) I definitely like Lurking Croc better than Brindle Boar, I usually do the same sideboard-in that you did.

3) Greatsword is good, but I'm not quite sure how good. I still haven't gotten enough plays with it to tell if it's an auto-include, but my gut says yes. What to put it in over is a toughie though.

Crown is NOT removal. 3 mana is way to much to pay for a tap ability.

Druidic satchel has a relevant ability no matter what you reveal for a very reasonable price. I think it's worth playing for the card advantage alone and there are times when you will be grateful to know what your next card will be.

I forgot all about the Arachnus Web - it is certainly playable.

Lurking Croc and Brindle Boar are both solid creatures. In a pinch I would say maindeck the Croc and side in the Boar for it if they have no islands.

I'm not a big fan of Greatsword, probably because it is so much weaker than any other 3 to play 3 to equip equipment. It is probably playable in a creature heavy deck.

Act of Treason is definitely an auto-include. By itself, it is at the same power level as Lightning Axe for 3 mana instead of 5 and the board state only makes it better and better as the game progresses.

I think you should have been GRB as you played it, but i think you should have splashed black, rather than red. Ive played a few drafts and sealeds with this set, and i rarely beat a t1 goblin fireslinger, as odd as that sounds. Heres how i would have built it:

Manalith

Jade Mage
Skinshifter
Lurking Crocodile
Cudgel Troll
Giant Spider
Acidic slime
Vastwood Gorger
Plummet
Arachnus Web

Black

Wring Flesh
Duskhunter Bat
Child of Night
Gravedigger
Sengir Vampire

Red

Goblin Arsonist
Stormblood Beserker
Gorehorn Minotaurs
Bonebreaker Giant
Incinerate X2
Chandras Outrage
Lava Axe

Absolutely incorrect. First of all, especially in green decks, removal is at a premium. Any removal is good removal in limited. Second of all, the fact that it's a tap ability that effectively has "haste" makes it literally the best topdeck possible late in a game. Just because in the early game it's difficult to keep the 3 mana open doesn't mean it's not absolutely dominant in the endgame, and there is zero reason it should not be maindecked unless you're playing some extremely corner-casey agro build (or if they have like a billion Manic Vandals and Master Thieves or something.)
