play a couple of solitare games on mws, this will also give you a good idea of how good your deck is in a mirror match and will allow you to learn all the shortcuts and nuances to mws.

Please use a mouse and not the finger pad, cuz that will also cut your time down.

Add comment commands on the bottom right. you should have (go)(g2)(g3)......any other thing that you say to your opponent....like if you play Jtms, you can have (brain)(unsummon)(scry) ect.

Also, if you are playing cards that create tokens, you should have those tokens added to the token database. You are given that option when you create a lone token by clicking the add button instead of create.

You should know the keyboard command for a mulligan, to roll a 20 sided die, to draw a card, to put a card on the bottom, to put a card on top, to shuffle, these are the basics.

pay attention to what your opponent does during his turn, this allows you to respond before he is a. done with a phase or b. done with his turn.

no one likes going backwards so that you can respond.

Important: know the cards, especially yours, no player likes pointing out that you don't know what your cards say or what they do or how they react. If you misread the card and built a deck around it, that is one thing but misreading the simplest cards will cause experienced players to disconnect.

Double click the last phase icon to make it your turn.
Double click the untap phase to untap all your permanents and move to the upkeep step.
Double click the draw step to draw a card and move to the first main phase.

Control + i to roll a d20.
Ctrl + s to shuffle your library.
Ctrl + m to draw 7 cards, or mulligan once you have cards in hand.
