Thread to discuss anything related for the trial and master scheduled from May 23rd to June 5th. Link to it here: http://www.magic-league.com/info/calendar.php

For the next 2 weeks we have:

3 Standard
2 Extended
2 Legacy
2 SOM/MBS/NPH Sealed
3 SOM Block Constructed (1 is the master)
1 Modern
1 RFT

Noteworthy, first Modern trial since its announcement, so make sure to tune in decks and practice in minis for it.
Also, RFT lovers get to have his trial also. Expect the sets to be announced the day before.

The Master will be Block, which if I recall is the first one with NPH, so good luck testing your new cards.

Post your opinions, tips, tech, etc about it here. Smile

Random Notes From A Random

- No vintage? Vintage is boring anyway
- The modern meta will be interesting.
- I like cannabis
- Any word yet on when draft will be on site?

Oh please no Block Master...there are like 5 viable archetypes...could we have it as Legacy or Standard or Sealed?

Maybe I suck...but apparently not as much as your sister does Sebas

"Anything else you'll like to add? Well as always, this top8 is dedicated to Sebas' sister."

Anyway, RFT is nice, and changing to Vintage wouldn't be a big difference...each attracts less than 30 players. RFT is definitely more entertaining and engages more of the league (less netdecking etc.)

Love that RFT made the list. ML should announce RFT sets after every master for a 2 week period both for upcoming trials and mini's.

I like extended, but in reality the turnout for Ext Trials is pretty pathetic. Extended should be relegated to it's season just like IRL.

Could you also annouce the times for all these trials? I'm not sure my time zone in Montreal (I would guess it's EST) but I would love some trials at 5-6 am. I know there's a lot of overseas people who would like to have trials at that time as well. Weedmonkey is a big proponent of this idea and will even host it. Something to consider.

What the hell is "Modern"?

- More T2 ! It's still the most played format, and I want another master in it.
- That being said, I like the Block Constructed Master, and I like the Modern trial, but I don't think it should replace a Master, which are always the best tournaments on ML since they are the only swiss tourneys.
- I'm not interested in RFT/Vintage.
- I agree with Jacois on Extended, 1 would be enough when it's not the PTQ/PT season.

I'll reiterate my request for at least one weekday trial at european times.

I appreciate this topic, would love to see it after each master.

I am a big fan of Vintage/T1 so even if they only happen 1 every two weeks i`d be happy.

2 sealed + 1 RFT + new format = happy pg8

I would like to know the times in advance, though.

@previousPost: Do not click the link which the discussion is all about then -.-

The schedule is fine i guess, tough -1 Ext +1 OverExt would be cool, tough modern kind of covers that in a way.
And maybe more Sealed Trials, but i dont know what they should replace.

Just an idea i had while writing that post:
Why not just run some tourneys of the uncommon formats, at a previously announced date so they dont have to use trialslots.
Most people who are interested in Vintage Trials for example, probably dont care about 2/1 Master byes anyway (if thats your motivation to play in trials you should question that imo Razz ). And the people who care about the byes will play in any other format as well.

tl:dr
Make a alternative Formats schedule.
One problem that comes up here tough is the lack of judges i guess.

I would just like to say. I really did like the Commander trial even though I had to leave due to a work conflict. But I thought it was very fun. Maybe though to get people more interested in it there should be minis for it. Because half the people that were there for the tourney did not know what it really was how to play it what cards were banned etc.
