this is the 2nd time i spent an hour of my life to build a RFT which got cancelled.

If u ask me there should be a change in the way RFT goes.

If u open the entries first and wait till its full. And than give 50 minutes to build the deck, than there doesn't seem to be a problem at all.

Show me your thoughts.

I tend to agree with this suggestion. No one wants to spend an hour building a deck just to have it cancelled, and neither do they want to build a deck just to find that they are the 9th person to get finished. So the way it is currently run, we have to hope that exactly 8 people decide to play - no less and no more.

This might be difficult within the current system because deck security codes would have to be changed *after* signing up, but surely it is possible.

you could have people sign up for the tournament with a random 60 land.dec or something. Then have a 60 minute deckbuilding period. Have each player submit their security code to the TC. And when it is time for pairings all the tc would have to do is paste everyone's security code with the pairings.

RFT is hard to get people to sign up for anyways because it takes time to build decks and play in it. If you get your 8 players that want to play first then build decks the TC should be able to modify the seccodes once you submit them to the TC shouldn't you?

Well since RFTs are no max minis it means if you are the 9th person to join you just get a bye and play the next round. Its just like any other tournament.

This way does not work. If you start building and then decide you can't play, need to do something else, or have to leave your spot is vacated and once the mini is closed we can't do anything.

The current way is probably the best way to do it which sometimes sucks, but request the TC to run it again if they have time which makes sense cause then even more people get to play and your deck does not go to waste

Aside from the occasional trial I've only seen 8 max's. What is the worst that could happen from how asamodius suggested? 8 people sign up and 2 or 3 take off. It's not like we've never had round 1 byes in a mini before and while it's annoying, it's better than nothing at all.

It would be just like sealed and having people drop during deck building.

The same can happen with any kind of sealed, or even in the middle of a standard game.

How about this suggestion:
Every week has one RFT. Throughout the week, RFT tournaments have the same sets. - Sets to be decided on weekends.

Than that shalt be done. Expect an announcement during this week about the exact procedure of announcing the RFT formats.
