Ok, so I'm sitting here and this thought came to me and I wonder what everyone thinks.

A new format that coud work with any existing formats. I have no name yet but it would work like this:

Everyone in the tournament would use the same deck and play each other with that deck. T2, T1.5, W/e. Maybe you could make your own sideboard but the main deck list would definitely be set in stone.

By doing this it would eliminate the meta of a tournament and you would have to rely solely on your superior PLAYING skill. I dunno, just a thought, let me know what you think.

That actually sounds pretty cool. In addition, a sealed trial where everyone gets the same pool.

You're wrong, and I disagree.

Why? Because doing so would eliminate the player's capacity to build decks. This involves changes in a deck to adapt to the metagame, not being able to play with cards that you love, strategies, and so on. And, unlike what you are thinking, you would still have the luck factor associated, because of the different draws each player will get.

In conclusion, your proposal goes, if I'm understanding it correctly, exactly against what you really want. That format will reduce the playing skills involved in the game rather than increasing them, because the way a player builds his deck is an important factor that shows off his skills, and you'll be destroying it. I'd be up for running this.

However, the deck would have to be a singleton deck (60 or 100 card) because lots of 4 ofs would make for very uninteresting gameplay.

Note: The sideboards would have to be the same, as I would like the SAME security code for each player.

Post deck suggestions below and we'll see if we can get something suitably interesting.

I say no sideboards would be better. IMO lets find out just how much "luck" is involved in magic.

Maybe just make a mini and use the deck that won the last trial.

It amazes me how many people who are frustrated with magic end up at this site.

Great Farseer, glad to hear people have some support. And in response to the one guy I am not fed up or disgusted with magic, in fact quite the opposite, it was jsut a thought on a new format is all. Let me know what I can do to make this happen Farseer.

I think it would be more interesting if you placed some restrictions but still allowed for some deckbuilding. you could list 20-40 cards, for example, and force them to be identical, while still allowing people to use their creativity with the rest of their decklists.
