I would suggest wrath MD, I think it's basic, and maybe sun titan to exploit walls, oracles and jace. Also sb should contain flashfreeze, dispel and a way to handle permanents (disenchant effects maybe...).

I've been working on UW control since the Som patch came out and this is what the current batch of testing has produced.

1 Chimeric Mass (edit props tacomaster)
1 expedition map
2 Brittle effigy
2 Everflowing Chalice
3 Wall of omens
4 Mana leak
1 deprive
1 Negate
3 Ratchet Bomb
3 Trinket Mage
2 Jace Beleren
4 Jace TMS
3 Day of Judgement
1 Gideon Jura
3 Sun Titan
4 Celestial Colonade
4 Glacial Fortress
3 Sea chromepost
3 Plains
1 arid mesa
3 Tectionic Edge
3 Misty Rainforest
5 island

Sb
1 Day of Judgement
1 Brittle Effigy
3 Negate
3 Baneslayer Angel
1 Nilhil spellbomb
4 Leonin Arbiter
1 Celestial Purge
1 Rachet Bomb

A couple of things, trinket mage is so much better than sea gate oracle, it allows you to run effigy maindeck, which also does sick things with sun titans. It allows you to run less chalices, it means you need less nihil spellbombs in board. It allows you to run expedition map, which can tutor up a edge or colonade or just fix mana as needed which is also very nice. Also one other huge factor, it is an extra shuffle effect to make the amazing jace tms all the more amazing.

You should also def be running seachrome post over the refuge its just a better card.

You also really need rachet bomb main to deal with troublesome pws and help vs aggresive creature decks and generally anything troublesome with a low cc. Not 4 but 2-3 is a certain main deck.

Leonin Arbiter is a must in the sb as valakult with summoning trap and the like is your worst match up. Arbiter gives you a fighting chance more so whilst valakult plays remain ignorant of his existence.

I've yet to lose a control mirror with this build of UW, its just more powerfull has better synergy then all the other builds i have come across. It holds its own vs aggro and also though ocassionally a good draw from an aggro deck will steal a win. Fauna shaman causes this build some problems but after board, nilhil spellbomb neuters the shaman nicely.

Chimeric Idol was printed in Prophecy, so... I am pretty sure you cannot play it. Razz

As for the main post... Venser is a wasted slot in that deck. Your only win conditions are JTMS and Elspeth's tokens with no DoJ :\... Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah, no.

Venser is terrible to randomly throw into UW. You're wasting slots.

Flat out saying that something is not going to work or is bad before there has been a big event with a new format is such a stupid fucking practice. You think that people would have learned that with necropotence, cursed scroll, masticore and numerous other cards that were appraised to fill niches in archetypes poorly... Pull your collective heads out the gaping ass that is not knowing shit until you are told what to think.

Except for the fact that wasting 5 mana on a card that does not effect the board is not something UW wants to be doing. Venser is a fine card in a deck with much more synergy for him. But here, he's simply wasting space. If you took the time to get a fucking clue, you might be less of an idiot one of these days. Smile
