Back with another 8-4, I had intended to not put anymore up cause the format is getting kind of old but maybe you should be carefull who you go around calling a noob ocay as they might just anihilate in more than one sense of the word round 1 of an 8-4, oh yeah and I won.

Event #: 1430430
Time: 7/20/2010 7:48:41 PM
Players:
Manning
--> ElementalMox
DavidOchoa
Dragon.mage
Azulah
Gendhil
shouhider3
ajadha

------ ROE ------

Pack 1 pick 1:
Vendetta
Ikiral Outrider
See Beyond
Forest
Ondu Giant
Drake Umbra
--> Guul Draz Assassin
Lay Bare
Stomper Cub
Hand of Emrakul
Jaddi Lifestrider
Gravity Well
Puncturing Light
Growth Spasm
Spawning Breath

This pack has 3 standout cards, gruul draz assassin, vendetta and drake umbra. The assassin is the most powerfull card, however it is more of a comitment to black than any of the other picks, I would rate vendetta as the second most powerfull, being so mana efficent and effective vs most creatures, whilst drake umbra is prob a little below the other two though prob the best of the umbras. In the end i took the assassin but for the record i think this is the wrong pick, assassin is much more of a commitment to black and can be a waste of alot of resources, with some well timed removal, I would take vendetta if i could make this pick again.

Pack 1 pick 2:
Frostwind Invoker
See Beyond
Bala Ged Scorpion
Living Destiny
Bramblesnap
Kozilek's Predator
Lagac Lizard
Sporecap Spider
Ikiral Outrider
--> Pelakka Wurm
Heat Ray
Merfolk Skyscout
Island
Totem-Guide Hartebeest

Two cards stand out from the crowd in this pack heat ray and pekkula wurm, although pekkula wurm is much more of a commitment, it is just alot more powefull than heatray in my opinion, both red and green work well with black the pekkula wurm borders on a bomb.

Pack 1 pick 3:
Ancient Stirrings
Plains
Repel the Darkness
Bloodrite Invoker
Kiln Fiend
Demonic Appetite
Glory Seeker
Akoum Boulderfoot
Umbra Mystic
Goblin Arsonist
Deprive
Prey's Vengeance
--> Halimar Wavewatch

Disappointing pack, the wavewatcher is just outright better than any other card in the pack, so I am just going to take that, with out it I would prob take the bloodrite invoker.

Pack 1 pick 4:
--> Hada Spy Patrol
Soul's Attendant
Irresistible Prey
Growth Spasm
Plains
Near-Death Experience
Fissure Vent
Puncturing Light
Reinforced Bulwark
Sporecap Spider
Zulaport Enforcer
Merfolk Observer

This was prob the hardest decision of the draft, Im not a fan of levelers thats cost over two to level and spy patrol for me def feels like one of thoose levels where alot of mana needs to be invested for a rather disappointing return, the growth spasm is a card I have started to like more and more as the format has progressed, however despite this the spy patrol 4th and wavewatcher 3rd gave me the distinct impression blue was likley open, whilst green was alot less clear if it was open or not from what had been passed so the patrol was my pick.

Pack 1 pick 5:
Jwari Scuttler
Stalwart Shield-Bearers
Baneful Omen
Ogre Sentry
--> Skeletal Wurm
Plains
Living Destiny
Battle Rampart
Spider Umbra
Glory Seeker
Fleeting Distraction

Awfull pack, skeletal wurm does the job of a winner if you have nothing else though so was my pick

Pack 1 pick 6:
Shrivel
Demystify
Leaf Arrow
Merfolk Observer
Plains
Death Cultist
--> Jwari Scuttler
Glory Seeker
Hedron Matrix
Fissure Vent

Another really awfull pack at a crtical time when we would like to be getting clues about what direction we should be taking is really frustrating, hedron matrix does not really work well with the cheap blue level up creatures we have and not really knowing anything at the moment except that we are in blue, I took the scuttler.

Pack 1 pick 7:
Death Cultist
Harmless Assault
Ogre Sentry
--> Shared Discovery
Forest
Aura Finesse
Eland Umbra
Enatu Golem
Contaminated Ground

More awfull packs

Pack 1 pick 8:
Jwari Scuttler
Nighthaze
Nema Siltlurker
Mountain
Fleeting Distraction
Raid Bombardment
--> Shrivel
Curse of Wizardry

1 Jwari Scuttler is already one too many

Pack 1 pick 9:
See Beyond
Forest
Lay Bare
Stomper Cub
Hand of Emrakul
--> Jaddi Lifestrider
Gravity Well

Some late green, gives us some indication that green blue may be the way to go, I prefre the strider to the cub, as its effect is quite powefull and it provides an excellent defensive body

Pack 1 pick 10:
See Beyond
Living Destiny
--> Bramblesnap
Lagac Lizard
Sporecap Spider
Island

This is a much welcome gift, which clearly says green is open and hopefully we should be able to reap the rewards pack 3, possibly pack 2 its hard to tell what colours the person we are passing to is in, as he really has not had much but garbage passed to him.

Pack 1 pick 11:
--> Kiln Fiend
Demonic Appetite
Glory Seeker
Umbra Mystic
Goblin Arsonist

Pack 1 pick 12:
Plains
--> Near-Death Experience
Fissure Vent
Merfolk Observer

Pack 1 pick 13:
--> Jwari Scuttler
Plains
Living Destiny

Pack 1 pick 14:
Plains
--> Fissure Vent

Pack 1 pick 15:
--> Death Cultist

------ ROE ------

Pack 2 pick 1:
Mortician Beetle
Eel Umbra
Eland Umbra
Halimar Wavewatch
Bloodrite Invoker
--> Broodwarden
Warmonger's Chariot
Forest
Kiln Fiend
Rapacious One
Bloodthrone Vampire
Evolving Wilds
Naturalize
Haze Frog
Mortician Beetle (FOIL)

Three cards to consider in this pack, the wavewatcher, the broodwarden and the rapcious one, the wavewatcher has the bonus of being in the colour that was most open pack 1, the rapacious one would be more appealing if we had fixing but we do not, broodwarden is a very powerfull card so despite not having any tokens to go with it yet, it is picked for having the most potential. The late bramblesnap, also was a factor in this pick.

Pack 2 pick 2:
Might of the Masses
Vent Sentinel
Eland Umbra
--> Kozilek's Predator
Nighthaze
See Beyond
Skeletal Wurm
Battle Rampart
Heat Ray
Totem-Guide Hartebeest
Guard Gomazoa
Virulent Swipe
Stomper Cub
Swamp

If i am going green blue I do want to splash, as Im not going to play a deck with no answer to dawngalre invoker and 8 mana, so the heat ray is tempting, however the predator really complimets our deck so much better than a card we do not currently have the mana fixing to use.

Pack 2 pick 3:
Bala Ged Scorpion
Plains
Halimar Wavewatch
Phantasmal Abomination
Rapacious One
Soul's Attendant
Mortician Beetle
Boar Umbra
Essence Feed
Nighthaze
--> Wildheart Invoker
Gloomhunter
Might of the Masses

This is another intresting pick the wavewatcher and invoker are on a similar level in my opinion, rarely have i come across a situation where i want both in my deck in fact this maybe the first time. Overall I decided that the ability of the invoker was to powrfull to pass up.

Pack 2 pick 4:
Cadaver Imp
Goblin Tunneler
Dawnglare Invoker
Hand of Emrakul
Mountain
Wall of Omens
Pawn of Ulamog
Phantasmal Abomination
Surrakar Spellblade
Lay Bare
--> Sea Gate Oracle
Hyena Umbra

Sea gate oracle is not waht i would call an exciting pick but its not one i could say i am disapointed with either.

Pack 2 pick 5:
Eel Umbra
Kiln Fiend
--> Rapacious One
Haze Frog
Forest
Gravitational Shift
Bloodrite Invoker
Nema Siltlurker
Fleeting Distraction
Raid Bombardment
Lone Missionary

Wow how many rapacious one are we going to get passed red is flowing strong, nothing else in this pack is anywhere near as good as it, so depite having no fixing atm it is my pick.

Pack 2 pick 6:
Grotag Siege-Runner
Hyena Umbra
Swamp
Unified Will
Hand of Emrakul
Haze Frog
Lavafume Invoker
Distortion Strike
--> Sea Gate Oracle
Ogre's Cleaver

The oracle is a welcome pick, more so when fixing could be a problem this draft and this helps lessen the mana issues.

Pack 2 pick 7:
Eel Umbra
Island
--> Daggerback Basilisk
Grotag Siege-Runner
Soulbound Guardians
Lavafume Invoker (FOIL)
Hand of Emrakul
Guard Duty
Thought Gorger

Pack 2 pick 8:
See Beyond
--> Soulsurge Elemental
Forest
Ogre's Cleaver
Enatu Golem
Ikiral Outrider
Reinforced Bulwark
Ancient Stirrings (FOIL)

A solid card in the token archtype we have a smattering of cards for

Pack 2 pick 9:
Mortician Beetle
Eland Umbra
Forest
Kiln Fiend
Bloodthrone Vampire
--> Naturalize
Haze Frog

For the board

Pack 2 pick 10:
--> Might of the Masses
Eland Umbra
Nighthaze
Battle Rampart
Virulent Swipe
Swamp

Decent in the token archtype also

Pack 2 pick 11:
Plains
Phantasmal Abomination
Mortician Beetle
--> Essence Feed
Nighthaze

Pack 2 pick 12:
Hand of Emrakul
Mountain
Phantasmal Abomination
--> Lay Bare

Pack 2 pick 13:
Haze Frog
Forest
--> Raid Bombardment

Pack 2 pick 14:
Swamp
--> Hand of Emrakul

Pack 2 pick 15:
--> Island

------ ROE ------

Pack 3 pick 1:
Prophetic Prism
Unified Will
Enclave Cryptologist
Aura Gnarlid
--> Flame Slash
Knight of Cliffhaven
Sea Gate Oracle
Gloomhunter
Ogre's Cleaver
Hand of Emrakul
Spawnsire of Ulamog
Haze Frog
Cadaver Imp
Hyena Umbra
Swamp

The cryptologist is really strong, however in my opinion having atleast some good removal is essential to sucess in my opinion in this format, so I am still going to take the flame slash out of this pack.

Pack 3 pick 2:
Grotag Siege-Runner
Mountain
Death Cultist
Demystify
Leaf Arrow
Wall of Omens
Lay Bare
Pawn of Ulamog
Phantasmal Abomination
Goblin Tunneler
Distortion Strike
Knight of Cliffhaven
--> Ulamog's Crusher
Cast Through Time

Nothing here really but a crusher, but Im always happy taking crusher.

Pack 3 pick 3:
Not of This World
Traitorous Instinct
Snake Umbra
Mountain
Lavafume Invoker
Mnemonic Wall
Zof Shade (FOIL)
--> Heat Ray
Soulbound Guardians
Caravan Escort
Distortion Strike
Dread Drone
Goblin Tunneler

Gives me a second piece of much needed removal just hope we can pick up some fixing for it.

Pack 3 pick 4:
Raid Bombardment
Goblin Arsonist
Jwari Scuttler
Angelheart Vial
Pennon Blade
Lone Missionary
Aura Finesse
Kor Line-Slinger
Shared Discovery
--> Wrap in Flames
Contaminated Ground
Forest

I am a big fan on this card and my faith in it continues to be rapaid. It got me through for exactly lethal in the money match on the final, staring down a crimson manticore and drake umbra dude about to kill me next go had i not the wrap in flames.

Pack 3 pick 5:
Haze Frog
See Beyond
Hand of Emrakul
Gravity Well
Bloodrite Invoker
Stomper Cub
--> Evolving Wilds
Ikiral Outrider
Mountain
Spawning Breath
Eel Umbra

Desperatly needed fixing

Pack 3 pick 6:
--> Snake Umbra
Mountain
Traitorous Instinct
Bloodthrone Vampire
See Beyond
Not of This World
Soulbound Guardians
Ikiral Outrider
Might of the Masses
Kor Line-Slinger

Felt a little better than the might of the masses

Pack 3 pick 7:
Puncturing Light
Demystify
Goblin Tunneler
Forest
Jaddi Lifestrider
--> Gravity Well
Lay Bare
Spider Umbra
Raid Bombardment

For board vs uw do not really want more than 1 strider, as sadly we did not really end up with the tokens to abuse it.

Pack 3 pick 8:
Gloomhunter
Haze Frog
Reality Spasm
See Beyond
Virulent Swipe
--> Stomper Cub
Explosive Revelation
Swamp

Pack 3 pick 9:
Unified Will
Gloomhunter
Ogre's Cleaver
Hand of Emrakul
Haze Frog
--> Cadaver Imp
Swamp

Pack 3 pick 10:
Mountain
Death Cultist
Demystify
Phantasmal Abomination
Goblin Tunneler
--> Cast Through Time

Pack 3 pick 11:
Not of This World
Mountain
--> Lavafume Invoker
Distortion Strike
Goblin Tunneler

Pack 3 pick 12:
Jwari Scuttler
Aura Finesse
--> Contaminated Ground
Forest

Pack 3 pick 13:
--> Haze Frog
Hand of Emrakul
Mountain

Pack 3 pick 14:
Mountain
--> Not of This World

Pack 3 pick 15:
--> Forest

1 Flame slash
1 might of the masses
1 bramble snap
1 hadra spy patrol
1 halimar wavewatcher
1 snake umbra
1 daggerback basilisk
1 jwari scuttler
1 lavafume invoker
2 sea gate oracle
1 wrap in flames
1 kozileks predator
1 soul surge elemental
1 wildheart invoker
1 broodwarden
1 jaddi life strider
1 stomper cub
1 rapacious one
1 pekkula wurm
1 ulamogs crusher
1 heat ray
5 island
4 mountain
8 forest
1 evolving wild

On the deck mana is not good, is playing some bad cards also but still felt very powerfull but everyone at the table seemed to have really shitty decks and were just playing bottom of the barrel cards, even my round 3 opponent with his crimson manticore and lord of shattersull pass was alos playing goblin arsonist main deck. I think this was due to a ton of duff packs pack1 which made it really hard for people to get any sense of direction.

Feedback appreciated.

your picks were all over the place..if this was an online draft i feel sorry for you you shoulda stuck to your colors instead of picking a little of everything you have 1 opp i doubt any of your amazing choices would have made it to him anyways seeing as he's across the table..

erm what barely coherant statement, that is also wrong in every sense online drafts your opponent is not opposite you its random pairings.

And yes I fo love crusher it is my second most drafted card in the set after prophetic prism.

Yeah cuz Im going to break like 10000 posts. Feel free to stop being a fucktard at any point. I was just showing my love for Pelakka Wurm. On the other posts however I was giving criticism as asked for and/or relevant input. Was that post really necessary? I mean, all it accomplished for you was +1 post. So GJ too bad you dont get a gold star.

I find it funny that youve only bothered to post 10 times and calling me an idiot was important enough for you to take the time to post.
