Back with another 8-4 I won with a sick gr tokens deck, thats 7 out of the last 10 8-4s won:) next time i promise to put up one of the drafts i do not win in.

Heat ray is a level above any of the other cards in the pack, bear umbra can be devestating but other times it can be very unimpressive, I think was the ray not here i would go for the umbra as it has alot more potential than any of the other picks.

Alot of good green in this pack, boar umbra, nest invader and ondu giant, I like the ondu giant the most as it allows me to splash, the boar umbra certainly is powerfull but i do not like it outside the aura gnarlid archtype.

This was a tough call drake umbra is a great splash card and very powerfull, but crusher is also a card our deck likes, in the end i did not take the umbra mostly as, i would rather splash for removal than the umbra as there are so many problem creatures in the format and currently we only have a heat ray.

All the cards in this pack are average with the exception of coral helm commander which is an absoluete bomb id rather not be paired vs, im confidant the way pack 1 went that i can hate the commander, note i could also move into blue red as i have only one green card ondu giant the rest is red both seem better options than taking a 20th something card for my deck when it seems unlikely i will be struggling for playables.

The match ups
game 1 gw beats he starts with a souls attendant which is annoying for my deck, and prooced to put a bear, hyena and boar umbra on the card, howver my bramble snap plus, might of the masses is able to get rid of the hyena umbra, then he keeps attacking in with the craeture in to bramble snap losing an aura evvery time he does and me nothing, lord of shatterskull pass eventually wipes his board and rapacious ogre gives me even more tokens and with the help of lavafume invoker i deal a whooping 60 plus damage the next turn.

Game 2 No souls attendant and he starts slowly, but does have a dawn glare invoker this time with a hyena umbra on but not the mana to use thankfully i am able to fully level lord of shatterskull pass before he can reach 8 mana and nuke his board, from there it was plain sailing.


Round 2

Game 1 br tokens, My jorga treespeaker acceleartes out a 4th turn rapacious ogre which he trades a 2 for 1 with blood rite invoker and unleveled zulaport enforcer, he has a scopion for one of the token whilst i have a jedi life strider, he however is now getting his beat on with, scoprion goblin tunnler, battle rattel shaman, I bash with my soul surge elmental though and he takes 6 down 10, i then go to snake umbra the elemntal after combat, and he reponds with staggershock.

Must have been fearing might of the masses, he keeps beting with bala thanks to tunneler for 4 with battle rattle, for my go i draw, a emrakuls hatcher, he goes to corpse hatch the hatcher, i repsond with momentous fall (last card in hand bet he thought it was a land:) demonstartion that people who say you should never play all your lands are wrong), drawing 3 and not giving him any tokens and getting me a lava fume invoker than i am able to play and activate next go and get in with enough tokens for lethal.

Game 2 i mull 6 and proced to go treespeaker level, bramble snap, nest invader, groth spasm, wildheart invoker, my opponrnt crys like a little girl about my draw and conceeds.

Round 3

game 1 uw fliers, he wins the roll and start with an aggresive curve of beaters, at some point he chose to level, knight of the cliffhaven over skywatcher adept and the 1 damge proves to be crucial, I have a 3 rd growth spasm, into 4th predator brable snap but am already facing down a massive aerial team, he oust my bramble snap another error as i have ulamogs crusher in hand and it gives me an extra turn, i play crusher and next go bash, mt draw the the turn my only out to not dying to the strike back next turn momentous fall, I gain 8 and replay bramble snap. He bashes in and I fall to 1 life with no blocks, I untap, make a dude bash and the unblocked guy gets double might of the masses ftw.

Game 2 i have a 3rd turn lava fume invoker whilst he has nothing for the first 3 goes, i see why when he drops livian bad news for my deck, however, i countinue to make guys even if my lord of shatterskull pass is not the card it could be, I have a gravity well and as my guys are bigger things are looking good, on the end turn i draw my heat ray, and kill liviana not that it would have mattered as he was tapped out at a lowlife total and i had might of the masses in hand.

Congrats on your wins. The only pick that looked at all strange to me was the p1p3 Ondu Giant. I can understand the logic behind it, I just would have taken bear umbra. I probably would have taken Aura Gnarlid over the Coralhelm Commander p2p2 also, but that is debatable. Again, nicely done with your tourney wins.

When I looked over the ondu giant pick, it gave me the most pause for thought. I'm still not a 100% sure on the pick, alot more hard decisions now since they got rid of print runs.

Rapacious One over growth spasm is definitely the right pick. A) It is amazing, b) a 5th pick Rapacious One tells the next guy that red is likely open, especially after the passed heat ray, and keeping him out of red is good.

p2p1, while I ultimately think Ulamog's crusher is the right pick due to the archetype you're drafting, the fact that you didn't even consider Lust for War bothers me. It is easily a better card than crusher just in terms of raw power, and it still fits fine into a token deck, though admittedly not as well as a crusher. Lust for War is probably the most underrated card in the set.
