Back with another 4-3-2-2 I won, white blue aerial/slash level up this is the first time i've drafted this deck and its not felt really clunky.

Event #: 1248483
Time: 5/23/2010 11:49:11 PM
Players:
--> ElementalMox
fact0rficti0n
Draftskolen
hellgoon
Magnifar
bunnykinz
MasterGodMan
lokonat0r

------ ROE ------

Pack 1 pick 1:
Bramblesnap
Vent Sentinel
Living Destiny
Arrogant Bloodlord
Dread Drone
Last Kiss
Battle Rampart
Narcolepsy
Thought Gorger
--> Enclave Cryptologist
Glory Seeker
Ondu Giant
Hyena Umbra
Bloodthrone Vampire
Island

2 really good blue cards in the first pack, I think in this format the cryptologist is a legit bomb, so im going to take it ober narcolepsy, id take the last kiss 3rd

Pack 1 pick 2:
Goblin Tunneler
Irresistible Prey
Lay Bare
Explosive Revelation
Stalwart Shield-Bearers
Growth Spasm
Puncturing Light
Ogre Sentry
Zulaport Enforcer
Pawn of Ulamog
Spider Umbra
--> Mul Daya Channelers
Fleeting Distraction
Mountain

This card seems very powerfull, as much as would rather not be green blue as i practically scope to dawn glare invoker and 8 mana

Pack 1 pick 3:
--> Artisan of Kozilek
Frostwind Invoker
Vent Sentinel
Grotag Siege-Runner
Makindi Griffin
Stomper Cub
Overgrown Battlement
Warmonger's Chariot
Essence Feed
Fissure Vent (FOIL)
Phantasmal Abomination
Totem-Guide Hartebeest
Plains

Good pack, we have a overgrown battlement and a frostwindinvoker plus a chariot which is not so good in this format as therre are so many mana sinks, but my pick is the artisan, as I find if you resolve it you win the game and its a colourless spell so no matter what i know im going to play it.

Pack 1 pick 4:
Curse of Wizardry
Evolving Wilds
Living Destiny
Surreal Memoir
Bloodrite Invoker
Haze Frog
Glory Seeker
Repel the Darkness
--> Halimar Wavewatch
Traitorous Instinct
Bloodthrone Vampire
Mountain

The wavewatcher is an easy pick here with what we have already, surreal memoir is a very powerfull card also but we have no red so far

Pack 1 pick 5:
Death Cultist
Curse of Wizardry
Near-Death Experience
Jwari Scuttler
Living Destiny
Shrivel
Enatu Golem
Lagac Lizard
Demystify
Mountain
--> Leaf Arrow

Awfull pack, if we end up blue green leat arrow gives an instant speed answer to invoker

Pack 1 pick 6:
--> Eel Umbra
Grotag Siege-Runner
Makindi Griffin
Sporecap Spider
Aura Finesse
Reinforced Bulwark
Bala Ged Scorpion
Lagac Lizard
Phantasmal Abomination
Plains

Once again not much here the griffin is teh strongest card but not stron enough to put us off colour so my pcik is the flash umbra

Pack 1 pick 7:
Demonic Appetite
Ancient Stirrings
Naturalize
Irresistible Prey
--> Makindi Griffin
Battle Rampart
Soulsurge Elemental
Merfolk Observer
Plains

A griffin pick 7 is probably a good signal white is open and ive seen little green so moving in on blue white

Pack 1 pick 8:
Spawning Breath
Naturalize
--> Time of Heroes
Vent Sentinel
Stomper Cub
Eland Umbra
Bloodthrone Vampire
Island

Hopefully i get enough level up guys to make this good

Pack 1 pick 9:
Vent Sentinel
Living Destiny
Battle Rampart
Thought Gorger
Glory Seeker
--> Hyena Umbra
Island

This card is really good in the ultra aggresive white blue decks, maybe i'll be able to get that deck hope so as its really good, but i never know how people get all thoose good cards in one draft when i see thoose decks, Im always like honestly who the fuck passed them this shit.

Pack 1 pick 10:
Irresistible Prey
Explosive Revelation
Stalwart Shield-Bearers
--> Puncturing Light
Fleeting Distraction
Mountain

White blue likes this card as it gives it an answer to invoker if they attack

Pack 1 pick 11:
Grotag Siege-Runner
--> Makindi Griffin
Fissure Vent (FOIL)
Totem-Guide Hartebeest
Plains

Yep def should be in white

Pack 1 pick 12:
Living Destiny
Glory Seeker
--> Repel the Darkness
Mountain

This card is currently very underated

Pack 1 pick 13:
Death Cultist
--> Curse of Wizardry
Mountain

Pack 1 pick 14:
--> Aura Finesse
Plains

Pack 1 pick 15:
--> Plains

------ ROE ------

Pack 2 pick 1:
Demonic Appetite
Deprive
Shrivel
Spawnsire of Ulamog
Sporecap Spider
Kor Line-Slinger
Ogre Sentry
--> Ulamog's Crusher
Shared Discovery
Harmless Assault
Traitorous Instinct
Not of This World
Affa Guard Hound
Mountain
Leaf Arrow

Not that great a pack, deprive and kor line slinger are both solid and although crush may not fit the deck like a velvet slipper, the other two cards are not strong enough to justify passing a card that makes it night impossible for your opponent to win in 2 swings.

Pack 2 pick 2:
Skeletal Wurm
Artisan of Kozilek
Ancient Stirrings
Lay Bare
Mnemonic Wall
Momentous Fall
Cadaver Imp
Prey's Vengeance
Staggershock
Smite
Hand of Emrakul
Lavafume Invoker
--> Sea Gate Oracle
Plains

staggershock is the best here by some way, already have enough beef so no artisan, oracle is solid but unexciting

Pack 2 pick 3:
Lone Missionary
--> Champion's Drake
Irresistible Prey (FOIL)
Jwari Scuttler
Emrakul's Hatcher
Akoum Boulderfoot
Boar Umbra
Ogre's Cleaver
Brood Birthing
Repel the Darkness
Nomads' Assembly
Fleeting Distraction
Swamp

lots of medicore cards in our colours, champions drake has the most potential out of the lot if i can pick up a few more level up creatures, boar umbra is the best card in pack but can not take for colour reasons, its looking quite alot like the person next to us took narcolepsy pick 2 and commited like a donk there and then.

Pack 2 pick 4:
Champion's Drake
Guard Duty
Mnemonic Wall
Battle-Rattle Shaman
Surreal Memoir
Soulbound Guardians
Lavafume Invoker
Brood Birthing
--> Drake Umbra
Repel the Darkness
Tuktuk the Explorer
Island

Late tuk tuk that card is a pain, but the umbra is a welcome addition to this deck

Pack 2 pick 5:
Time of Heroes
Living Destiny
Merfolk Skyscout
Battle-Rattle Shaman
Kor Line-Slinger
Snake Umbra
Thought Gorger
Perish the Thought
Fissure Vent
--> Hyena Umbra
Swamp

Not many level up creatures so no time of heros for me, Im a big fan of hyna umbra and umbras in general this one in particular makes removal look crap at the cost of one mana.

Pack 2 pick 6:
Unified Will
Mnemonic Wall
Pennon Blade
Mammoth Umbra
Dread Drone
Caravan Escort
--> Dawnglare Invoker
Kiln Fiend
Distortion Strike
Swamp

Wow what a pack, a mammoth umbra and invoker, plus escort, invoker wins easy though, it and 8 mana is gg this some decks.

Pack 2 pick 7:
--> Champion's Drake
Soul's Attendant
Crab Umbra
Bloodrite Invoker
Smite
Fissure Vent
Merfolk Observer
Forest
Swamp (FOIL)

I keep seeing these but no levelers to go with them, maybe I'll get a bucket load pack 3

Pack 2 pick 8:
--> Lone Missionary
Gloomhunter
Jwari Scuttler
Contaminated Ground
Essence Feed
Phantasmal Abomination
Not of This World
Mountain

I actually like this guy, particulary if im racing in the skys and i still have a few fatties two he buys time to get out

Pack 2 pick 9:
Demonic Appetite
Shrivel
Shared Discovery
Harmless Assault
Not of This World
--> Affa Guard Hound
Mountain

Pack 2 pick 10:
Skeletal Wurm
Ancient Stirrings
Prey's Vengeance
--> Smite
Hand of Emrakul
Plains

Situational removal is still removal

Pack 2 pick 11:
Lone Missionary
Jwari Scuttler
Akoum Boulderfoot
--> Repel the Darkness
Swamp

Another coup for my deck

Pack 2 pick 12:
--> Soulbound Guardians
Lavafume Invoker
Repel the Darkness
Island

Great board option

Pack 2 pick 13:
--> Living Destiny
Fissure Vent
Swamp

Pack 2 pick 14:
--> Unified Will
Swamp

Pack 2 pick 15:
--> Forest

------ ROE ------

Pack 3 pick 1:
Inquisition of Kozilek
Ancient Stirrings
Guard Duty
--> Kargan Dragonlord
Mnemonic Wall
Makindi Griffin
Zof Shade
Skywatcher Adept
Zulaport Enforcer
Lavafume Invoker
Reinforced Bulwark (FOIL)
Enclave Cryptologist
Oust
Daggerback Basilisk
Plains

The card I would take, if kargan was not a mythic rare that i can get 2/3 of the cost of drafting back on is crypologist which is awsome, but not as awsome as 7$ in my pocket.

Pack 3 pick 2:
Jaddi Lifestrider
Frostwind Invoker
Nighthaze
Soul's Attendant
Dread Drone
Might of the Masses
--> Narcolepsy
Guard Gomazoa
Ondu Giant
Lagac Lizard
Ikiral Outrider
Hyena Umbra
Virulent Swipe
Swamp

Very happy to take the nercolepsy, guard gomaz if not i think

Pack 3 pick 3:
Death Cultist
--> Hedron-Field Purists
Eel Umbra
Grotag Siege-Runner
Shrivel
Luminous Wake
Puncturing Light
Raid Bombardment
Overgrown Battlement
Broodwarden
Essence Feed
Demystify
Island

This guy is pretty crap but im trying to justify thoose damn champion drakes, late brrodwarden

Pack 3 pick 4:
Ancient Stirrings
Mnemonic Wall
Makindi Griffin
Cadaver Imp
Wall of Omens
Hand of Emrakul
Suffer the Past
Lavafume Invoker
Sea Gate Oracle
Essence Feed
--> Halimar Wavewatch
Forest

More level up guys and a topclass one at that is welcome, deck is shaping up to be alot more defensive then i first intended but still good

Pack 3 pick 5:
Champion's Drake
Gloomhunter
Akoum Boulderfoot
Pennon Blade
Bloodrite Invoker
Haze Frog
Aura Finesse
Goblin Arsonist
Bala Ged Scorpion
--> Prophetic Prism
Plains

I really doubt Im going to want another champions drake with jow few level up creatures i have, plus multiples ask to make removal heavy decks laugh at you, Imporb not going to play the prism but alot of decks could be really wnating just that card

Pack 3 pick 6:
Cast Through Time
Naturalize
Jwari Scuttler
Shrivel
Raid Bombardment
--> Regress
Nema Siltlurker (FOIL)
Eland Umbra
Fleeting Distraction
Forest

Very nice in this format

Pack 3 pick 7:
Death Cultist
Inquisition of Kozilek
Survival Cache
Haze Frog
Repel the Darkness
--> Halimar Wavewatch
Demystify
Leaf Arrow
Mountain

Great really happy to have 3 of these good early defencethat turns into late win condition

Pack 3 pick 8:
Jaddi Lifestrider
Nighthaze
Living Destiny
Puncturing Light
--> Regress
Suffer the Past
Goblin Arsonist
Forest

More than welcome

Pack 3 pick 9:
Inquisition of Kozilek
--> Makindi Griffin
Zof Shade
Zulaport Enforcer
Lavafume Invoker
Reinforced Bulwark (FOIL)
Plains

So many good late picks this draft, its nice being in the right colours

Pack 3 pick 10:
Nighthaze
Lagac Lizard
Ikiral Outrider
--> Hyena Umbra
Virulent Swipe
Swamp

Much the same

Pack 3 pick 11:
Death Cultist
Luminous Wake
Raid Bombardment
--> Demystify
Island

Pack 3 pick 12:
Ancient Stirrings
Suffer the Past
--> Essence Feed
Forest

Pack 3 pick 13:
Haze Frog
--> Aura Finesse
Plains

Pack 3 pick 14:
--> Fleeting Distraction
Forest

Pack 3 pick 15:
--> Mountain

The deck

1 smite
1 hyena umbra
1 enclave crytologist
1 puncturing light
1 narcolespy
1 champions drake
3 halimar wavewatcher
1 lone missionary
2 regress
2 repel darkness
1 dawnglare invoker
1 sea gate oracle
3 mankidi griffin
1 drake umbra
1 ulamogs crusher
1 artisan of kozilek

All games were close and good fun slops to my round 2 opponent draftskolen for dcing with lethal damge on the board tapped out, the big boom booms felt unnecessary in this deck.

Feedback appreciated

I honestly would've taken the thought gorger. It would have changed everything I know but yeah. How the hell do you remember everything in every pack to report it like this? Also Arrogant bloodlord or thought gorger woulda been my pics out the gate.

Feedback:

Ulamog crusher over kor slinger in a WU "midrange"?
Also I think ur overrating wavematch a little, needs so much time and investement to work.
Also, the thing that most hurted my eyes Razz, was picking a second hyena umbra (when u already had 2 umbras) when u had kor slinger and a merfolk skyscout!! Slinger is just bad vs scorpion, vs anything else he's pretty awesome and works with aggro too.
Then again, halimar over griffin and wall of omens? ouch!

At the end you just played one of the 3 hyena umbras, and 3 halimar main were too much imo. I think you overrate them a little!

Btw, i love UW decks, probably best draft option imo.

Yeah ive ran into thought gorger once since then and he was pretty devastating, in a br mirror, put its an all eggs in one basket sort of card that i do not like much main deck. Sitting there with corpse hatch and vendetta in hand think, useless piles of crap.

At the time I took the crusher which I so seem to like more than most i did not know i was UW aggro route, its not one I've been able to go down often. I was still more intent on a defensive uw deck based around wavewatchers and life gain, and cards like repel the depths to buy me time to land crusher. If i could make the pick again i would take slinger.

The wavewatchers were awsome every round maybe something to do with the everyone i played vs was blue and they bashed through to win most games. I think after narcolepsy its prob the top blue common.

I find all the creatures that cost two or less to level up you can use in a really efficent manner but once they start costing three or more, they become very clunky.

Also come to the conclusion with level up that you prob want somewhere around 6 in your decks tops unless you have multiple venerated teachers, as otherwise your having to spend all your mana every turn to make your guys decent. Which often proves to be to slow.

I agree as i said at the end the deck did not seem to need the crusher or artisan infact i never cast either all draft, but most the decks I draft tend to want them. Thanks for the feeback.

Oh and sorry i forgot to mention, Im not the rain man of magic (well not quite) though honestly sometimes I do think i have a mild form of savant syndrome lol. But mtgo has a draft record function that allows you to record all the picks you make.

He does this on MODO, and it actually saves it in a text format like that. Then he just adds his reasons for each pick in between each pick...
