even in an aggressive style deck, he provides methods to control the board, AND he's a beater when you don't need him.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. He's very versatile, and you can usually find a use for him, no matter when you draw him.

A lot of people seem to be glossing over his Sleep-like effect, and just trying to see how his abilities interact with each other. His first ability on its own can win you games. Force them to attack, block one or two with stronger creatures if you have them. Next turn, swing in, with or without Gideon as a 6/6. If you've got even one decent creature Gideon can help you turn the game around.

I think he's one of the most powerful cards spoiled so far. I also like that we've now seen a few decent levelers, though. I can't wait for this set, and the prerelease. Smile

Sure were a lot of wrong people in this thread.

Also, I agree about the constructed formats being too formulaic these days. WOTC is hand crafting these archetypes and spoon feeding them to the players.

"Here's your vampires deck little Timmy, now go win a tournament."

Same with Jund (you think its just a coincidence that Jund has gained NOTHING from the last two sets and very little from zendikar?).

As a player that started out back when Hymn to Tourach and Necropotence were being printed, I am not happy with the current state of the game. I will be sticking to EDH and limited (luckily I love sealed deck and draft).

Bring back team sealed!
