I just got back into the game on Magic Online. I'm not sure how much more expensive real cards are to online ones, but I was able to build a Valakut Ramp with a side board for just under $45. The deck takes a little getting used to, but it's a great deck and a cheap way to get back into the game.

I have also forgotten that I had to take into consideration that my local store has crap for cards. I've decided to go with a vampires list although I hadn't built it yet nor have I checked to see if they even have the cards. I have my prerelease Nocturnus so one less of those to get and bloodghasts and bloodwitches are selling for pretty cheap online so I can only hope my store has them or I may not be able to dive right into this FNM and have to wait.

White Weenie can be made cheaply ... obviously better if you spend the money, but I made an ok version for $25.

If you're worried about stores carrying cards, check online. If you're willing to wait a few days and throw in a few bucks for shipping, you save tax and don't have to worry about selection.

My store bought two cases of first print run for release... I think they've only used one case of it. The other is still being used.

Not as lucky as Lotus, but for the 1 pack prize last night, I chose M10 on a whim, and pulled a foil Rootbound Crag.
