I plan on buying this deck at some point, but don't feel like spending much money on it, so I'm avoiding any Rares. If you think there are rares that would make the deck better, feel free to mention them, but I want to get the best decklist possible using only uncommons and commons. Any and all advice/comments are welcome!
Lands (23):
23 Plains
Creatures (29):
3 Akrasan Squire
4 Elite Vanguard
4 Kazandu Blademaster
4 Kor Aeronaut
4 Kor Skyfisher
4 Stormfront Pegasus
4 Veteran Swordsmith
Other (8):
2 Oblivion Ring
2 Excommunicate
4 Journey to Nowhere
4 Brave the Elements
EDIT 1: -2 Solemn Offering, -2 Excommunicate, +4 Journey to Nowhere.
EDIT 2: -4 Stormfront Pegasus, -2 Veteran Armorsmith, -2 Excommunicate, +2 Kor Skyfisher, +2 Veteran Swordsmith, +4 Brave the Elements

brave the elements is a must in a deck like this and is uncommon if i am not mistaken.. also put that arti/enchant removal in the SB and probably add 2 journey inplace or if u want can be 2 of honor the pure which seems strong but is rare ... or jsut put the brave the elements there if u like.. tho i think u need 4 brave
to build budget WW I would go -4 storm front pegasus -2 solemn, -4 exo communicate
then add + 2 kor skyfisher + 4 brave the elements + 2 journey + 2 swordsmith ...
thinking about it again maby excommunicate isnt so bad but i think u just rather have solid ways around BS angel in journey/o ring to remove it or brave to sneak by it
also look at White knight and kor hookmaster as possible guys as well both very effcient in WW |

I'm guessing you're including Path to exile as a rare?
brave the elements really is a must (as stated above). It is a protection spell and it can be a win condition.
Also harm's way could be nice.
You could also try the CIPT white that gains you 2. Any little bit helps when you are facing things like RDW and Jund. |

I find this deck generally wins quick or runs out of steam ... I haven't had many deadlocks where Brave the Elements would really help. I'm definitely going to try it out though.
Definite change is -2 Solemn Offering, -2 Excommunicate, +4 Journey to Nowhere. Not really sure what I was thinking originally.
I thought about White Knight, but flying is more consistent evasion than pro black, and Kazandu Blademaster and Sigiled Paladin are both better as 2/2 first strikers.
I am indeed counting Path to Exile as a rare. I'm not using the CIPT land because 2 life doesn't help me much (as I said, if I don't win quick I'm probably not winning, so lengthening the game doesn't help much), and CIPT is too much of a drawback in a fast deck like this. |

After playing with Brave the Elements a bit, I see why you guys advised it ... it's an amazing, versatile card. I've also upped the number of Veteran Swordsmiths to increase offence, and because I had enough two-drops already (so I didn't need the armorsmiths). And having to bounce a tapped plains is so rarely a cost, that removing the last two Stormfronts for Kor Skyfishers was a no-brainer.
My only regret is not taking your advice from the get-go, SaTiVa ... all of it was solid. |
