Sphinx of Jwar Isle is better than Baneslayer almost 100% of the time.

Cut 2 baneslayers main, move to the side. Add 1 sphinx and a path to exile.

DoJ is not good against any decks but vampires and random teir 2 creature decks. if your playing def duelist/ wall of shroud day of judgment isnt good at all. oblivion ring is meh. richard feldmans deck is probably the best urw deck but i have found a deck that is better than both, its esper control. think about y your playing red then think about identity crisis and esper charm and choose which one is better.

// Lands
6 [ZEN] Island (5)
3 [ZEN] Mountain (Cool
5 [ZEN] Plains (5)
4 [M10] Glacial Fortress
4 [CFX] Rupture Spire

// Creatures
4 [M10] Baneslayer Angel
2 [ZEN] Sphinx of Jwar Isle
2 [ZEN] Sphinx of Lost Truths
2 [ARB] Wall of Denial (obvious reasons)

// Spells
1 [CFX] Obelisk of Alara ( you play against it and complain y it's in their great with the rupture spire)
3 [ALA] Oblivion Ring
4 [M10] Negate
4 [CFX] Path to Exile
4 [M10] Lightning Bolt
3 [ALA] Ajani Vengeant (usually wins against you control matchup)
3 [M10] Jace Beleren
2 [ZEN] Rite of Replication (do i have to name creatures this is good for?)
4 [ZEN] Day of Judgment

// Sideboard
SB: 3 [ZEN] Luminarch Ascension (control)
SB: 3 [ALA] Swerve (seriously most decks it could almost be main except against vamps 90% of jund targets
SB: 3 [M10] Harm's Way (slow down mono white enough for the win)
SB: 3 [ARB] Double Negative (it was either this or cannonist)
SB: 3 [M10] Earthquake(bushwackers, vamps, and mono white)

i actually like the UWR control decks and yes it has been seen before at pt austin someone was playing it he went 5-2 losing to vamps each time b/c bloodghasts recursion

actual results
W/L
vamps 7-3

jund 6-4

control 8-2 u/r chandra control 7/3 mirror 8/2 U/W

bant aggro 6-4

mono white 5-5

u/g mana ramp 6-4 depens on how fast they drop sphinx or lorthos

have not played against that new UBW cascade deck that plays the land aura's that make your land island or what ever they want it to be

thornling wins 6-4

so far this deck seems to be really good i have been playing it for about 2 weeks and it has earned me about 40pts so far in the ratings

You're playing a control deck with 22 lands, 18 of which are terrible in this deck?

Seriously? How did you win?

You need 4-6 more lands in there, dude!

I've been testing the shit out of this deck, it's really good. Definitely one of the best decks out there right now, and hands down best control deck.

4 Path to Exile
4 Day of Judgment

2 Courier's Capsule
3 Negate
2 Chandra Nalaar
1 Obelisk of Alara
2 Celestial Purge

4 Sejiri Refuge
4 Scalding Tarn
4 Arid Mesa
4 Glacial Fortress
4 Plains
3 Island
2 Mountain

SB
3 Earthquake
3 Pithing Needle
1 Negate

I had taken UWR control to the nashville starcity games 5k
and my record ended up being 5-3, I lost to U/B Hedron crab because I didn't know what the hell was going on and I was laughing too hard, I lost to Rock because of a silly play mistake and then I went 1-2 against the mirror match because a turn 5 baneslayer angel can be countered by a Double negative paid for by RRU, not UUR. Dude cheated me and I didn't catch it, anyways this was my list

5 island
3 plains
3 mountain
4 glacial fortress
4 rupture spire
2 arid mesa
2 scalding tarn
2 terramorphic expanse

3 baneslayer angel
2 sphinx of the jwar isle
3 wall of reverence

2 mindspring
3 earthquake
2 day of judgement
1 martial coup

3 negate
4 lightning bolt
3 celestial purge

4 ajani vengeant
3 jace beleren
2 chandra naalaar

SB

4 oblivion ring
4 path to exile
3 goblin ruin blaster
3 essence scatter
1 celestial purge

Celestial purge main deck HOSES the jund match up like really really, the only thing i found the card dead was against the bant match up but the celestial purge just hits everything right now. Now that mono green will get big I'm testing with path to exile again but I found that path really ended up fixing jund's mana more than anything. Earthquake was amazing because it slipped under swerve and hindering light all day long and I got to kill a few planeswalkers along the way. I have a really bad run in with Luminarch ascension at the FNM before hand but hey that's what O-rings for, and essence scatter is still just good against anything especially against the control mirror oddly enough, countering sphinx of jwar isle was kinda nice. This will mostly be a FNM deck now so any ideas and helpful hints would be nice

Lot of people have been playing shroud dudes lately, I like deft duelist and jwar isle, I think both are decent right now. I think most control players are starting to shift to american colors since you get so many great options. Probably needs more testing but list looks pretty good.
