1. Control magic is not dead. Counter magic is dead, temporarily. But that's only because Cryptic Command dominated the metagame for 2 years. Time for a break.

2. Creature deck are not necessarily more expensive than non-creature decks. Wizards prints all planeswalkers at mythic. Most planeswalkers find their way into standard playable decks in the course of their career in standard. A lot of those are in creature light decks. Also mana bases make decks expensive.(fetches at 15 bucks a pop!? If you run 4-8, thats already 60-120 bucks)

3. Aggro is not the mindless deck type that control snobs make it out to be. If you play every game by emptying out your hand as quick as possible and attacking every turn all in, you're not going to win a lot of games with all the mass removal wizards likes to print. Combo decks are pretty mindless, but Wizards does its best to keep good combo decks out of standard.

Also control snobs (in particular blue control snobs) a deck that has enough cheap/good counters isn't that skill testing. Counter everything. Play your finisher(one of those good creatures) protect it with counters. Your opponent didn't play anything worth countering, just use the open mana for instant speed card draw. Wow, let me bow to your genius.

4. If wizards didn't print enough good creatures to construct an aggro deck that could race/recover from a turn 4 wrath of god, Nobody would run creatures and control mirrors do get boring really quick.

5. I think baneslayer angel is probably too good, but I can hardly fault wizards for printing an obvious chase mythic to drive m
10 sales. They do want to make money after all.

I think the word "suddenly" in this post is hilarious. The power level of creatures has been steadily increasing for a really long time.

The argument that Box contains less than 1 mythic is funny and flawed. And the fact he keep saying it proves something. In usual FNM drafts people open usually like 2-4 mythics and that is just the right amount. You are just unlucky, odds didnt favor you, to open 7 boxes for 2 mythics. At least you got Baneslayer and Cobra not the other crap Mythics.

Too further on the previous post: 1 in 8 rareslots is reserved for a mythic. You can read it up on the mothership in the article where maro anounces the introduction of the new rarity.

And WotC doesnt print "cards for decks".
I havent see "Nicol Bolas".dec yet. That looks like a powerful card that should be worth more than Baneslayer Angel! Because it's Nicol Bolas. Or..Doubling Seasons: 10 Euro worth.

WotC has not much influence on the secondary market.

The fact that you refuse to acknowledge that WOTC does have control over the price of singles despite the fact that they implemented Mythic Rares and proceeded to print BaneSlayer Angel as a Mythic rare shows that you are either stupid or have drank the WOTC Kool Aid and refuse to see any flaw whatsoever with what they choose to do.

The readon for making mythics is not so they (WotC) can sell the singles for more money, they make good mythics because it sells boosters. Not to the usual players, but to the stores, who do the cracking. After that it is a question of supply and demand.
It is the same with selling Zendikar. Boosters are not that easy to find, so price goes up. Do you think that wizards earns one cent more per pack? Nope. They already have got the money from selling the boosters to the store that sell them for higher profit.
Bottom line is: the ones making magiccards more expensive is not wizards, but it is us, the players. Or at least the people that go chasing after the popular cards and drive up the demand part in the supply/demand equation.
