I must confess that I dream of owning a playmat like the ones I see in pictures of GP coverage. So first question: is it available for sale anywhere?

Actually I tried searching using my best friend aka Google, and the results...well, let's just say that I'm kinda convinced that it's a not-for-sale item. If that's really the case, then the next best alternative would be to try and make one! Now I'm staring at two problems.

1. Material - I am considering using felt sheets, with cardboard as backing. Another way would be to simply print out the image of the playmat (which I do have) on...I don't know, high-quality paper? And then reinforce it with cardboard? I could use some ideas here, hehe.

2. Dimensions - I tried looking online, but to no avail. Should I just go by my gut feelings, or would some kind soul be able to tell me the answers?

I dont know if you are interested, but Star City Games and the Magic Show (Evan Erwin). Are selling a playmat to help support the show. It has the whole "Redzone" thing goin on, but is only 1 sided.

I saw that. It doesn't look like the real thing at all, and the perfectionist in me says that it's not worth it for me to get it.

It looks something like the below image, minus the captions:
