Just curious, let's say I play a spell on my own turn and in response, someone plays a Silence or Chant in response. Because it's top on the stack, and therefore I cant cast spells, does it act as something of a counterspell regarding that partic spell? And if so, does it go back to my hand(since not officially countered) reveal or is it discarded? Im guessing the former. Thanks!

You have already cast your spell. It's completely and utterly unaffected by Silence.

in the case of m10 silence, and as posted.... rtfc read the card. it tells you your answer right there. orim's chant has old wording but essentially works the same way. only effects that remove cards from the stack can 'undo' a prior play.

silence is not a counterspell, there are no undo effects in magic.

THAT being said... if i silence in response to your bloodbraid elf... your cascade will trigger but you cannot play ythe new card. if i silence after you played your entire storm deck besides the win-card, go me.
