Once the metagame becomes defined, then I am more than open to finding a couple MD spots for Gigadrowse, but until then, I like it in the board. I'm sure Faeries will still be pretty strong, and Tron may or may not be played a lot. Peer has probably been the best card in the main 60 for me besides the obvious Dragonstorm, I'm never unhappy to draw it. The storage lands aren't really that vital. Like I said, it's the same 22 land base that was used in the Worlds '06 list, figured it must be pretty good, and it has been.
Yes, Chalice is in the board mostly for Hypergenesis. If that deck becomes widely played and consistently shows up in large numbers at the major tournaments & PTQ's, that number will go up in the board.
As far as a keepable hand with no Dragonstorm, the best opening play you can do is Ponder + Lotus Bloom (unless of course you have the "OMG I win on turn 1" hand. A good opener that's not the "God" hand would be something like 2 or 3 land, Ponder/Peer, Lotus Bloom, and 2 rituals (Rite, Song, Desperate). Hopefully your Ponder will either find you a Dragonstorm or find you a Peer to help you dig for one. The deck has consistently won on turn 4, many times before that. Hope that helps, again.

| Yeah peer is great something I always find amusing is when people say what about the times peers missed and you do not hit a card. Im like so you prefer 5 dead lands on top of your deck too, 1 wasted card in hand which is it how it will work out for most of the time. |

| Then make them chewing a bad beat in poker, leading them to exit card games with randomness factor. |

Which cards do you find to be removable for boarding purposes? The Desperate rituals? Choosing the cards to bring in for boarding is easy, taking out not so much lol (unless the matchup makes it brain dead obvious, which it usually doesnt)
And same question for the original mono-red list in the thread if you don't mind backtracking a lil? Every little card in that thing breaks my heart to remove. Though I did find that counter-abilities stop the whole finishing combo cold. Anything that can be done about that in the mono-red build? (aside from "use the U/R build" I like that one too!)
(oh and yes, I 4-of'd the Rift bolt in the burn build lol duodax made an excellent point, even if abrasively) |
