Why doesnt anyone play this card? Derf, derf, I sound like noobage, but whatever. Its brutal on turn 2... seems like a go to me. Aggressive bant can at least use it in the sb.

ive been winning lots with a cephalid deck since i started playing again a few days ago

heres my supertopsecret list that ill probablysee 8 diff versions of by tomorrow:

// Deck file for Magic Workstation (http://www.magicworkstation.com)

// Lands
1 [10E] Treetop Village
4 [SHM] Mystic Gate
4 [10E] Yavimaya Coast
4 [10E] Brushland
3 [ALA] Forest (3)
6 [ALA] Island (1)

// Creatures
4 [CFX] Noble Hierarch
4 [10E] Birds of Paradise
4 [10E] Cephalid Constable

// Spells
2 [MOR] Disperse
4 [10E] Boomerang
4 [SHM] Consign to Dream
4 [ALA] Resounding Wave
4 [LRW] Cryptic Command
4 [ARB] Ardent Plea
4 [ARB] Captured Sunlight

// Sideboard
SB: 4 [10E] Pithing Needle
SB: 4 [LRW] Burrenton Forge-Tender
SB: 4 [SHM] Guttural Response
SB: 3 [ALA] Hindering Light

obviously wins every time against 5cc planeswalker and otehr slow decks. havent played faeries yet but i assume it loses to fae. bloodbraid decks seem to lose to it often enough. teh hardest part is cascading into bounce spells and a cephalid early. once u get a cephalid out its usually a scoop.

its a pretty janky deck but maybe the brainiacs that will rip my list can improve it. sadly alot of the matchups depend on who wins the roll lol

that list is a 1 trick pony. makes for really fast games (either wins or losses)

2 [LRW] Wanderwine Hub
2 [MOR] Murmuring Bosk

2 [SHM] Kitchen Finks
1 [LRW] Burrenton Forge-Tender
1 [ARB] Dauntless Escort
3 [ALA] Rafiq of the Many
3 [MOR] Chameleon Colossus
3 [ARB] Enlisted Wurm

// Spells

// Sideboard
SB: 2 [SHM] Kitchen Finks
SB: 3 [LRW] Burrenton Forge-Tender
SB: 3 [ARB] Dauntless Escort
SB: 4 [10E] Pithing Needle

Games 2 and 3, most decks have decent removal that they will solely target your Cephalid with...

Any form of aggro seems like it will wreck this.

BW tokens has Zealous Persecution. Fae will counter, or Peppersmoke, or Agony Warp, or Terror, or if you drop it later in the game, Sower of Temptation...GW tokens has Path. RB has incinerate, Javelin, Fanatic (do people still play it), and other things.

I can see this beating Jund Ramp, 5cc, 5cBlood, stuff like that, but a complete fold to the aggro matchups is just not cutting it.

Of course you provide a decent Bant Backup plan, but any deck that solely relies on Cephalid can't handle faster decks...

@Bagina, why run one Behemoth sledge, one Hammer? Why not two hammer? Mana color doesn't seem to be the issue, and no Rhox War Monk?

that was just my first draft of it.. i've since included some new cards... its almost more of a bant aggro, with bounce included for more control now

theres one of each for diversity. having two one-of's that are virtually the same makes more work for thought hemmorage and maelstrom pulse. lox is also a little easier on the mana, so i might save a life from a painland.

i prefer sledge to lox, but a sledge and a lox can prove to be slighty more useful than 2 sledges.

as for rhox war monk, hes harder on mana than the finks. dies to wog, javelin, bituminous, etc. finks are resilient. ive got enough lifegain to survive most matchups until i can get my beaters on the board. in a pinch i can block with finks then bounce them to hand and gain more life.

with some tweaking this deck could provide a threat to the current meta.
