Not trying to spam the boards, but with PTQ's coming up in a couple months, regionals in less than a month, I'm curious to know what everybody is going to be playing and why. Now, given, Alara Reborn isn't completely spoiled yet but we can get some ideas on how its going to impact standard. I have most of the cards for either deck but am going to commit to one and one only, so my questions to anyone who finds this thread interesting is, 1) which deck do you think is better? 2) would you personally play either one and 3) what your going to be playing and why.
Thanks,
Jeremy |

1. In my opinion, B/W Tokens is the better/stronger deck. Faeries is a strong deck, yes, but the raw power of B/W tokens along with it's ability to beat fast and beat strong, all the while controlling their opponent's hand wins out in the end.
2. I have both deck fully constructed, and I would play both in a tournament, but when it comes down to it...
3. If (hopefully) my DCI suspension doesn't go through (long story), I'll be playing B/W tokens at Regionals, GP Seattle, and any PTQs that come up in this time. |

| I was testing against Boat Brew today and it just felt like, on the draw I cant keep up, get ahead, or even stabilize because as soon as I do with a sower or something he untapped and played a Siege-Gang Commander, Ranger of Eos, or Reveillark and its just so much. Not to mention the cheese win with banefire for 8 untap banefire for 9. Um, I feel like id be more confident with BW Tokens even tho Faeries is proven to still be the top deck. |

| The problem is, because of it's impact on the past standard environment, Wizards made a great deal of cards that, along with the already available bunch, just proved to be too much hate against faeries. |

| I feel like, Faeries is now 50/50, and doesnt have any blowouts. However, now it might get blown out. For example, unless you splash and make a bad manabase for white cards like Forge Tender and Kitchen Finks, the red matchup is just so awful. Burn, Fallout, and Banefires just beat you to easily. Not to mention and early Figure of Destiny. I feel like both decks cant get ahead against Boat Brew or Kithkin though when they're on the draw, but it feels like BW has a better chance with finks, more removal, bigger guys etc etc. |

Boat brew is like faeries best match...lark, ranger, siege all bad vs faeries |

| Banefires and fallouts just ends up being too much regardless of playing around it with your Mistbind Cliques and everything else. On the draw the early starts are just so powerful. Im not sure if I think Faeries is actually better than BW Tokens. |

It's really up to what you feel more comfortable playing really...I agree that B/W tokens would be my choice right now but Fairies isn't that bad of a choice either. It really comes down to what you think your tournament will be like...
If you feel that there will be tons of Boat Brew and other pro Fairy matchups, then go with it. If not stick with B/W! |

| Yes, thanks for your imput. I feel like, if the meta has a lot of 5c Control and Boat Brew Faeries is the right choice. If there's a lot of Kithkin and Red Decks I do feel like BW Tokens is a safer deck. Well see when the meta comes. Currently Im playing Faeries but i feel like this is definately going to change soon. |

And don't forget that playing aggro is always "easier" than playing control. If you are not a player who has a lot (I mean really a LOT) of experience with Faeries, I would stick to BW tokens. You have to play all day long. You can get tired with a control deck faster with an aggro. BW has shorter matches, you only have to beat the crap out of your opponent. |

| That has nothing to do with it lol. I'm very experienced with both decks. BW Tokens for months now and Faeries since BB came out. lol ~1900 rating almost speaks for itself on if I know my stuff or not. However, back to the real talk. Faeries has proven the numbers, but I'm more comfortable with BW Tokens. Not to mention they just got a BW pump spell, ur opp guys gets -1-1 and urs get +1+1. Seems good in a LOT of matchups. |

this is totally wrong, aggro is not easier to play, its easier to mess up and still win with, i for one cant play aggro at all bc i play control all the time and i will mess up a lot more with a faster deck. if your picking a deck bc you dont want to play long matches then its not just the deck that is slow, its you.
i think fae is better if there is no mono red/blightning decks other than that i think theyre about even with fae being more controllish and bw more aggro depending on what you are comfortable with. |

Attrition wars tends to take longer time than just beating face.
It is more difficult to control the board than to get as much damage in as fast as possible.
Aggro decks have one clear game-plan to follow. Control decks adjust to whatever is going on, demanding knowledge of how all the opposing decks works and the ability to improvise.
Three points for playing aggro in tournaments, if you worry about going tired and thus starting to make errors. |
