Okay back with another draft this time its a 4-3-2-2 and I won, went ub with a small white and red splash.

Event #: 252199
Time: 3/20/2009 7:35:48 PM
Players:
hills
Bold_Niehaus
--> ElementalMox
biggyb143
josealbero
Daggr4
Shadowed_Past
Highlander

------ ALA ------

Pack 1 pick 1:
Hissing Iguanar
Vectis Silencers
Resounding Silence
Deathgreeter
Gustrider Exuberant
Resounding Wave
Magma Spray
Blightning
Naturalize
Obelisk of Grixis
--> Infest
Bull Cerodon
Rockcaster Platoon
Minion Reflector
Mountain

I think you can rule at the magama spray as if your going to take it you may as well just take the bull instead but I felt the infest gave a better signal.

Pack 1 pick 2:
Thorn-Thrash Viashino
Etherium Sculptor
Marble Chalice
Deathgreeter
Sigil Blessing
Court Archers
Jund Panorama
Obelisk of Bant
Hindering Light
Tidehollow Sculler
--> Fleshbag Marauder
Grixis Battlemage
Mindlock Orb
Plains

Again I think its hard to choose between the sculler and maruader but I am not a big fan of the sculler in my experience it just dies so as the maruader is also open thats what i went with and it works better with our first pick also.

Pack 1 pick 3:
Dregscape Zombie
Kederekt Creeper
Savage Hunger
Ridge Rannet
--> Courier's Capsule
Cloudheath Drake
Glaze Fiend
Esper Panorama
Obelisk of Naya
Bant Battlemage
Dawnray Archer
Lich's Mirror
Mountain

Okay now we have a decision to make dredgescape zombie is too weak to take third pick, so its between the courriers capsule, the cloudheath drake and the panorama, I think the capsule has got better as the format has slowed down a fair bit and as we are only 2 colours so far its a little early for a panorama also.

Pack 1 pick 4:
Sigil Blessing
Druid of the Anima
Ridge Rannet
Steelclad Serpent
Excommunicate
Volcanic Submersion
Rakeclaw Gargantuan
Onyx Goblet
Spell Snip
--> Puppet Conjurer
Behemoth's Herald
Swamp

The conjurer is a strong pick and a good sign we have positioned ourselves in the right colours.

Pack 1 pick 5:
Lush Growth
Bloodpyre Elemental
Guardians of Akrasa
Carrion Thrash
--> Cloudheath Drake
Glaze Fiend
Esper Panorama
Obelisk of Naya
Gift of the Gargantuan
Etherium Astrolabe
Plains

I think as I am still only 2 colours the drake is the pick over the esper panorama or the more brave bloodpyre elemental, whihc i think I like more than drake but not so much as to dive into a new colour for it.

Pack 1 pick 6:
Vectis Silencers
Welkin Guide
Deft Duelist
Soul's Might
Resounding Scream
Naya Panorama
Cancel
--> Seaside Citadel
Topan Ascetic
Swamp

Strong pack the best card for us is easily the sea side citadel

Pack 1 pick 7:
Thorn-Thrash Viashino
Yoked Plowbeast
Banewasp Affliction
--> Deft Duelist
Obelisk of Bant
Incurable Ogre
Sangrite Surge
Keeper of Progenitus
Forest

Duelist is best card and all the better now we have citadel

Pack 1 pick 8:
Vectis Silencers
Welkin Guide
--> Deft Duelist
Relic of Progenitus
Resounding Wave
Resounding Scream
Swerve
Island

The welkin guide is probably stonger but it really shines in naya stratergies where is can give a fatty flying out of no where, most my creatures will have flying anyway so not so good.

Pack 1 pick 9:
Vectis Silencers
Deathgreeter
Gustrider Exuberant
Blightning
Obelisk of Grixis
--> Rockcaster Platoon
Mountain

Maybe board in for mirrors

Pack 1 pick 10:
Marble Chalice
Obelisk of Bant
Hindering Light
--> Grixis Battlemage
Mindlock Orb
Plains

Nice late playable

Pack 1 pick 11:
Savage Hunger
--> Glaze Fiend
Obelisk of Naya
Lich's Mirror
Mountain

Pack 1 pick 12:
Onyx Goblet
--> Spell Snip
Behemoth's Herald
Swamp

Pack 1 pick 13:
Lush Growth
--> Guardians of Akrasa
Plains

Pack 1 pick 14:
--> Soul's Might
Swamp

Pack 1 pick 15:
--> Banewasp Affliction

------ ALA ------

Pack 2 pick 1:
Obelisk of Grixis
Cylian Elf (FOIL)
Cavern Thoctar
Spell Snip
Dispeller's Capsule
Volcanic Submersion
Sighted-Caste Sorcerer
Bloodpyre Elemental
--> Agony Warp
Tortoise Formation
Fire-Field Ogre
Jund Battlemage
Angel's Herald
Ad Nauseam
Forest

No card is near agony warp for our deck.

Pack 2 pick 2:
Druid of the Anima
Ridge Rannet
Steelclad Serpent
Excommunicate
Banewasp Affliction
Jungle Weaver
Lush Growth
--> Agony Warp
Kathari Screecher
Sighted-Caste Sorcerer
Puppet Conjurer
Behemoth's Herald
Immortal Coil
Swamp

The conjurer is good but not as good as the warp.

Pack 2 pick 3:
Yoked Plowbeast
Dregscape Zombie
Kederekt Creeper
Savage Hunger
Ridge Rannet
Guardians of Akrasa
Dragon Fodder
Shore Snapper
Rip-Clan Crasher
--> Grixis Charm
Bant Battlemage
Jhessian Infiltrator
Swamp

Grixis charm is so much better than any of the other cards in this pack and as I am really only comitted to blue and black this is the pick.

Pack 2 pick 4:
Shadowfeed
--> Tidehollow Strix
Kathari Screecher
Soul's Grace
Relic of Progenitus
Hindering Light
Vithian Stinger
Wild Nacatl
Outrider of Jhess
Naya Charm
Scourge Devil
Swamp

Wow strong pack, nactal stinger and strix are the best cards, I considered the stinger but stuck to the safer strix it was close.

Pack 2 pick 5:
Obelisk of Esper
Magma Spray
Dispeller's Capsule
Cathartic Adept
Blightning
--> Kathari Screecher
Soul's Grace
Mosstodon
Mighty Emergence
Memory Erosion
Mountain

More srong red being fed out way but we have a fine pick in screecher.

Pack 2 pick 6:
--> Kathari Screecher
Lush Growth
Tidehollow Strix
Skeletal Kathari
Esper Panorama
Carrion Thrash
Vithian Stinger
Gift of the Gargantuan
Naya Battlemage
Island

Wow that is a very late vithian stinger if i knew that was going to happen I would have took the first one and the spray, as this is a 4-3-2-2 and I am aiming to win this draft I took the screcher as I am probably going to get paired vs this sick red deck at some point, I did in finals and the decision paid off, he had both stingers.

Pack 2 pick 7:
Excommunicate
Druid of the Anima
Thorn-Thrash Viashino
Yoked Plowbeast
Obelisk of Bant
--> Wild Nacatl
Incurable Ogre
Thunder-Thrash Elder
Mountain

Im just going to start cutting the naya or jund deck being shipped as its ridicolous how late some of these cards are going and I am fine for playables.

Pack 2 pick 8:
Savage Hunger
Demon's Herald (FOIL)
Marble Chalice
Resounding Roar
--> Mosstodon
Elvish Visionary
Behemoth's Herald
Mountain

Once again

Pack 2 pick 9:
--> Obelisk of Grixis
Dispeller's Capsule
Volcanic Submersion
Tortoise Formation
Angel's Herald
Ad Nauseam
Forest

Thats good makes my charm more playable

Pack 2 pick 10:
--> Steelclad Serpent
Banewasp Affliction
Lush Growth
Behemoth's Herald
Immortal Coil
Swamp

Pack 2 pick 11:
--> Yoked Plowbeast
Savage Hunger
Ridge Rannet
Shore Snapper
Swamp

Pack 2 pick 12:
Shadowfeed
Soul's Grace
--> Hindering Light
Swamp

Pack 2 pick 13:
Cathartic Adept
--> Soul's Grace
Mountain

Pack 2 pick 14:
--> Lush Growth
Island

Pack 2 pick 15:
--> Mountain

------ CON ------

Pack 3 pick 1:
Wretched Banquet
--> Esper Cormorants
Parasitic Strix
Aven Trailblazer
Kaleidostone
Ember Weaver
Yoke of the Damned
Nacatl Savage
Wandering Goblins
Brackwater Elemental
Corrupted Roots
Spore Burst
Dreadwing
Soul's Majesty
Mountain

I curently have no 4 drops and I like 3/3 flyers for 4 mana alot, the strix may have been a better pick is I had more black creatures but its still debatable.

Pack 3 pick 2:
Vedalken Outlander
Dark Temper
Frontline Sage
Aven Squire
--> Wretched Banquet
Worldly Counsel
Might of Alara
Salvage Slasher
Brackwater Elemental
Voices from the Void
Elder Mastery
Sacellum Archers
Mark of Asylum
Island

There are alot of options in this pack but the best one in terms of mana is the banquet so its what i took.

Pack 3 pick 3:
Vedalken Outlander
--> Absorb Vis
Kranioceros
Mana Cylix
Gleam of Resistance
Constricting Tendrils
Tukatongue Thallid
Asha's Favor
Corrupted Roots
Spore Burst
Dreadwing
Sigil of the Empty Throne
Mountain

I was hoping to pick up some of these as it makes my splash possible double splash alot better

Pack 3 pick 4:
Aven Squire
Parasitic Strix
Matca Rioters
Bone Saw
Court Homunculus
Molten Frame
Infectious Horror
Rhox Bodyguard
Filigree Fracture
--> Grixis Slavedriver
Shambling Remains
Island

Late reamins but the slavedriver is simply awsome card

Pack 3 pick 5:
Kranioceros
Valeron Outlander
Sylvan Bounty
Tukatongue Thallid
Lapse of Certainty
Suicidal Charge
Constricting Tendrils
Dragonsoul Knight
Reliquary Tower
--> Sacellum Archers
Mountain

These felt like they couold really hinder me and nothing else in the pack was much of a problem to my deck as there is really nothing for me so its what i took.

Pack 3 pick 6:
Kaleidostone
--> Sedraxis Alchemist
Beacon Behemoth
Unsummon
Grixis Illusionist
Yoke of the Damned
Vectis Agents
Quenchable Fire
Gluttonous Slime
Swamp

Its a stong contender for best card here certainly best ca5rd for the deck.

Pack 3 pick 7:
--> Absorb Vis
Sylvan Bounty
Tukatongue Thallid
Lapse of Certainty
Suicidal Charge
Constricting Tendrils
Ignite Disorder
Cumber Stone
Mountain

Yes this makes me a happy bunny

Pack 3 pick 8:
Pestilent Kathari
--> Matca Rioters
Bone Saw
Court Homunculus
Molten Frame
Infectious Horror
Skyward Eye Prophets
Swamp

If you read what I typed up about last draft you will se how strong this guy can be early in the domain deck.

Pack 3 pick 9:
Kaleidostone
Wandering Goblins
--> Brackwater Elemental
Corrupted Roots
Spore Burst
Dreadwing
Mountain

Is a great road block and also helpfull for racing

Pack 3 pick 10:
Frontline Sage
Worldly Counsel
Salvage Slasher
--> Brackwater Elemental
Voices from the Void
Island

Its unlikely im going to be ablt to get much power out of the void so the elmental is the pick.

Pack 3 pick 11:
--> Mana Cylix
Constricting Tendrils
Corrupted Roots
Dreadwing
Mountain

Pack 3 pick 12:
Bone Saw
--> Molten Frame
Infectious Horror
Island

Pack 3 pick 13:
--> Constricting Tendrils
Reliquary Tower
Mountain

Pack 3 pick 14:
--> Vectis Agents
Swamp

Nice 14th pick playable

Pack 3 pick 15:
--> Mountain

The deck

1 wretched banquet
1 courriers capsule
1 tidehollow strix
2 agony warp
1 deft duelist
1 infest
1 grixis charm
2 brackwater elemental
1 fleshbag maruaders
1 grixis battlemage
2 kathari screecher
1 sexadris alchemist
1 esper comorants
1 cloudheath drake
1 vectis agent
1 grixis slavedriver
2 absorb vis
1 seaside citadel
1 plains
7 islands
8 swamps
1 mountain

Brief Match ups

5cc control he had razor realm, megaloth and sharuum the hegemon, he took game 1 after a slow start with shruum 6th turn followe dby megaloth. I curved out game 2 and evaded my way to victory, game 3 I beat him down with a good curve and was able to kill what ever threat he made before his fatties showed up.

Esper mirror, he mulled to 5 game 1 but had turn 2 sculler to pull my piece of removal out of hand, I had kept a 5 lander and drew 1 non land spell in 8 turns whilst he drew out of screw. Game 2 I curve out and he floods even cumberstone and master transmuter can not help him. Final game I get an aerial curve backed up by a little removal as he stalls on 2 lands again and take the win this time as I have gas.

Jund, Game 1 i have to make a unenchanced sexadris alchemist to trade with his cylian elf as my draw is slow but powerfull as I have slavedriver plus grixis charm and mana top cast, I draw a strix which keeps his topan asectic at bay he makes a 4/4 devour thrash dude which i grixis charm and then drop my slave driver, he attacks with his dredgescape zombie and like a fool I block though it would have prob ended up with the same outcome had i not in my attack step, as he has bolt still an okay trade, I unearth the driver getting me another zombie and bash, from here my zobmbies manage to hold the ground whilst my aerial beaters smash face for the win. Game 2 he keeps a hand with no black mana and draws none, I agnoy warp his asectic and get my beat on with screecher, he plays vithain stinger, I beat he drops another stinger but I draw banquet:), my stinger gets pinged and a glutenous slime devours it in my go, I draw another screecher though and uneath the other now I am glad I took that over strix, he still can not find black mana with all black spells in hand absorbvis wins the race.

Feedback appreciated.

Yeah Ceredon is leaps and bounds better then infest.

Infest isnt actually that good. In any deck that would play black it ends up killing a huge percantage of your creatures, so unless you have Hissing Iguanar to make the infest a win condition with enough dudes in play its not that good. Not to mention there are two cards in this format that basically do the same thing, but they are instants (cept it doesnt kill certain outlanders)

Of course, there are certain decks it crushes, but its usually a liability for you to have.

Ceredon wins games and is very swingy, and in my opinion the best uncommon in the set. Smile

I can understand why you took infest, and i cant really blame you. And you seemed to get passed the right cards for your deck.

p3p1 i would have taken the strix, as its unclear if your even gonna be playing white. And that time it was looking like you were going grixis.

p3p2 Dark Temper....seriously...I love banquet and all, but its a horrible top deck late game. And Terror is always good...

p3p4 If you had taken the dark temper you could probally have taken the remains here, which is think is better then the slave driver especially without connoisseur

p3p5 dont know if its worth the hate draft, but if you had taken the red cards in conflux you can take the dragonsoul knight.

p3p8 that guy is completely insane...you probally couldve played him in your deck hes that good. a 5/5 for 2G is a good bargain. If you had gotten a sphere you couldve played him. Personally i wouldve played him with 2x absorb vis.

p3p10- take the voices, its really good. If you can get 4 domain on turn 5 it will rip his hand completely. I cant count the games ive won by playing voices. This card gets better and better if you get obelisks and other ramp (which you didnt Sad)

p3p11 Dreadwing??? Cylix is horrible and dreadwing is good and playable.. You couldve at least taken the cycler over a card you arent gonna play..unless of course you wanted to play the macta rioters.

Okay thats more like it, I do agree I probably should have switched into grixis pack two.

I think ceredon and infest is close I like infest more now in aac as Iam finding control decks are now producing better results so that why i took it.

There is one pick I definitely would have done differently.

Pack 1 pick 5:
Lush Growth
Bloodpyre Elemental
Guardians of Akrasa
Carrion Thrash
--> Cloudheath Drake

I see absolutely 0 reason for drake when you JUST picked up a puppet conjurer. Etherium Astrolabe + conjurer = win game without an answer and is a strong card if any of your creatures would die. Personally I like having fecundity in my draft deck. Also may have swayed you towards the 2nd conjurer by taking astrolabe but warp is still better.

I also woulda taken cerodon because 5c is just too easy to play not to and he is a house. But I understand that you didn't want to be passing signals that red was open and it makes sense. Infest is I think just one tier below cerodon in 5c but both are very good. Overall tho gj glad you pulled it out.
