This one is an 8-4 lost in finals too 1880 who top decked from 0 cards in hand down a load of cards from jund charm, and esper battlemage so ridic its unbelieveable first e capsule to kill my 5/5 hatchling followed by grixix slave driver followed by undead leotau, followed by forest 6/6 trampling wurm exact mana to cast that returns card to graveyard from hand when it deals damage, with out the final top deck i would have won.

Its not an amazing pack and as I like esper and etherium is probably the strongest card here its my pick.

Hard to argue with your result, but I don't like the first pick Master.

How often is he a 5/5 or 6/6? And if he is, how are you not already winning anyways?

The other thing I don't like about Master is, there's so many combat tricks one can use to kill him - all the ones that kill other creatures or artifacts, but a ton of others too. Even if he's 6/6 and blocking a 5/5, one can Magma Spray or Resounding Thunder one of your smaller artifact creatures. And you can't respond at instant speed with an artifact in response to pump him back up.

So, I'd have first-picked Druid of the Anima or Viscera Dragger. Druid is undervalued, I think, and Dragger is good in most decks and spectacular in a B/R aggressive deck.

Either way, I second-pick Hissing Iguanar as despite his fragile nature, he wins a ton of games. Another underrated card.

Third I obviously like Naya Charm if I'm Druid, and either that or Bone Splinters if I'm Dragger.

Fourth I go with Thunder-Thrash or Steward, versus Blightning as B/R.

Fifth I go with Court Archers as Grw, or Naya as BR.

I dunno, I guess my point is, Master of Etherium is overrated and Druid of the Anima is underrated. Naya is still the best color combo, in my opinion, followed by Jund, 5c, and Esper.

My current rating is 1777 i think something like that which is low for me, it generally fluctates between high 1700s and low 1800s, has not gone below 1760 in last 3 months and has not gone above 1820, Im pretty consistant player and never really get the rating swings some people experience, this is somewhat explained by the fact I only ever draft and do not play sealeds which are higher K-value events and you have no control over the strength, synergy of your card pool.

I do like dragger more than most, and druid of the anima is a card I know I underate good way of telling this and very useful if you use modo as its really easy to do is look through your commons and generally there are one or two commons that you have noticably less off than cards of similar quality, druid is one of these for me, though its picked up a bit recently.

However the thing is master of etherium is so much better than either in the right deck, it has more potential than either of the other cards and esper is very strong in my opinion. Even if he is only a 3/3 he is still a lord and has made all your cratures most of which probably fly alot better. Dragger certainly fits into more decks but its not a first pick you would be happy about whilst if esper is open which it was not person next to me was either bant or esper, it would have been alot better. Its alot easier to lose a few picks now since conflux has come out since the fixing is so much better, so I am much more prepeared to take gambles with my first few picks. As I said if you are going to do that you have to be prepared to ditch them at the first sign of trouble or you are going to end up with alot of mediocre decks.

Okay just for you!

Round 1 am paired vs bant some 1800, game 1 he mulls to 5, I get out an early maccata rioters which is a 5/5 by turn 5 he has no third land and concededes.

Game 2 He has a second turn courriers capsule but passes turn 3 with mana up, I go for a macata rioters and he white memory lapses. He has no turn 4 play just pops capsule, I replay rioters now a 4/4, turn 5 he drops an aven waveskimmer, I on my turn transmute the green land cycler bounty of something for a plains to give me full domain, attack and make a flesh former. Turn 6 he plays the 2/3 exalted rhino which gains you 3 life when it comes into play and attacks with waveskimmer. I attack with fleshformer and rioters he blocks fleshformer with rhino and i use abliltiy and it goes to bin. Turn 7 he makes the massive rhino 5/7 guy who you can pay 4g to deal 2 damage to all flying creatures. My go I attack with both my guys activating fleshformers ability before blockers. He attacks with rhino and waveskimmer on his go activates ability once and plays might of alara on my fleshformer as he is one damage sort of killing me.

Round 2 1770 paired vs Esper I have a feeling this was the guy feeding me packs 1 and 3 in the draft. He leads with a second turn tidehollow sculler taking my naya charm I have the outlander with pro white though on my go. He has turn 3 strix, whilst I have turn 3 rioters. I attack with my outlander as I have cards in hand to get domain with rioters and he chooses not to trade. On his go he makes an araskan 0/4 wall and passes turn back to me. I attack with outlander again and have no play. He makes an ethersworn cannoist, Once again I attack with outlander, having drawn a grixis charm, he still can not find a 4th land and as he has blue white black avaliable I am confidant he has no counter i need to worry about so eot, I kill the sculler to get back naya charm and cycle bounty to get me a white source needed for domain. I draw and play firey fall killing his strix, I attack with both my guys and he lets both through, leaving him at 7 not to clever as I have naya charm in hand and 7 powers woth of creatures on the board, he finds a fourth land makes a sanctum gargoyle but as you can tell by now that does not matter naya charm ftw.

Game 2 He mulls 5 though he has chosen to draw, he has turn 1 araskan squire, my first play is 3rd turn esper battlemage with black mana avaliable, he has no third land drop kill and beat for a few turns, he finally finds a third land and makes a play i forget what but by this point I have reached six mana and cast obelisk of alara with all but white mana avliable to me, he conceeds.

Round 3 1880 RBg splash, I have third turn esper battlemage but no black source as my my hand contained an island, a jund panorama and a plains. He runs the gambit and makes a blood cultist, although i have drawn a land since then its a forest, I draw firey fall for my turn and pass, he resounding thunders my esper battlemage after pinging with cultist, I draw a swamp and make necrogenesis, If i can get a mana to kill blood cultist I am in good shape, as he also cycled a ridgerannet turn 2, he misses his fourth land drop again but has a dork, I sac jund panorama for a red eot and draw a land and firey fall his bloodcultist so my necrogensis is now good. He untaps and plays scavenger drake Now things are not soo good. I draw and play jund battlemage tokens no fun when your oppnent has a drake, he simply attacks with drake and plays a armillary sphere which he blows up getting a forest and swamp, I draw blightning I hit and I forget whathe discards, he countinues to beat with drake for 1 a go laying a carrion thrash, followed by a grixis slavedriver followed by undead leotau. Now he bashes for more and I am forced into some blocks to stay in game I draw an obelisk of alra but it is to late to stop an alpha strike winning the game.

Game 2 I play first, and lead with a swamp, he has turn 2 deathraider at eot i sac my jund panorama for a mountain and play an island, he beats with deathraider and makes another, I cycle my firey fall for a forest and play jund charm on my go, not wanting to get hit by might of alara and unwilling to take anymore damage sadly 1880s do not play there creatures pre combat when you have a black red and green up. He makes a third goblin deathrider and passes back, I make esper battlemage and pass back, he attacks and follows up with a scavneger drake. I blightning him and kill the scavenger drake. On his go he simply attacks and plays nothing on my go I kill his death raider and make a maccata rioters he proceeds to draw only lands from here on in and my guys take down the game.

Game 3 he mulls to 6 on the play, he starts out with dredgescape zombie, followed by dragon soul knight, for his third turn he makes 2 tokens with a dragon fodder and I jund charm him eot. for my fourth turn I just make a sided in scattershot archer, he has nothing but a land I beat and play spore burst for 3 with hellkite hatchling in hand, on his go he makes a pesitlance kathari on his go and passes, I kill with archer in my upkeep, he just lets it die nice play, I attack with tokens and devour them all into dragon, making a 5/5 flyer, at this point he is on 15 so on a 3 turn clock, as well as playing jund battelmage, on his go he lays a land and makes a grixis slave master emptying his hand. I have grixis charm plus esper battlemage in hand plus no blue source. I beat him with dragon down to 10, on his go, he attacks with battlemage i make chump token and he follows up by ecapsuling my dragon off the top, I had not seen a splinters or ecapule prior and think devouring all three tokens into dragon was the right play, as it clocked him at 3 turns and I have to devour atleast 2 as I know he has resounding thunder, the extra turn aerial clock with scatter shot archer dealing with most plausible black fliers felt right. I draw a braching bolt, and pass back its not much good vs slavedriver though sadly as he just makes him even more threats when he dies, Im better keeping him alive and hoping to draw my obelisk or necrogensis, or enough creatures to hold him back and overwhelm. I have 15 cards in my lib too his 21 thanks to panoramas and cyclers plus 1 3 for 1ed him with a jund charm and 0 for 1ed with scatter shot archers, so I m still looking good. He makes undead leota of the top, I draw a land, he makes a hissing iguanr pre combat and beats, I bolt igunar, chump leotau and let the slaverdriver through dropping 8, get back in with my scatter shot archer, he drops a forest on his go and attacks with both I block the same way dropping 4, I Draw Sylvan bounty for my turn which I transmute for a island and make esper battelmage if he draws a blank i can still win this with grixis charm, he attacks with both I chump with archer and token so what has he drawn, to follow his forst he has drawn the 6/6 trampling rgb5 wurm with exact mana to cast, that just about sums up this opponent.
