Okay back with another draft I joined the tripple conflux que by mistake but ended up winning with ease. As always with formats like this my deck felt ridicolous and I did not lose a game, very fun to be able to draft 5 colour decks but overall the format felt a bit to simple. This should allow us to discuss conflux cards a bit more though, though obv they differ in value in this format.

Event #: 220235
Time: 3/1/2009 7:06:48 PM
Players:
lunchbox420
Boerge

Unsummon
Armillary Sphere
Kranioceros
Rhox Bodyguard
Exploding Borders (FOIL)
Infectious Horror
Worldly Counsel
Corrupted Roots
Ignite Disorder
Sacellum Archers
--> Goblin Razerunners
Swamp

Bomb rare pack 1 pick 1 easy.

Pack 1 pick 2:
--> Drag Down
Aven Trailblazer
Toxic Iguanar
Traumatic Visions
Mana Cylix
Beacon Behemoth
Nacatl Outlander
Nacatl Savage
Valiant Guard
Grixis Illusionist
Gluttonous Slime
Viashino Slaughtermaster
Inkwell Leviathan
Forest

Best card in the pack by some way.

Pack 1 pick 3:
Sedraxis Alchemist
Beacon Behemoth
Darklit Gargoyle
Unsummon
--> Armillary Sphere
Kranioceros
Scattershot Archer
Infectious Horror
Worldly Counsel
Voices from the Void
Spore Burst
Charnelhoard Wurm
Island

Alot of good cards in this pack, spore burst, voices from the void, Charnelhoard wurm and armillary sphere, the wurm felt too expensive for my tastes and the sphere is simply amazing.

Pack 1 pick 4:
Canyon Minotaur
Traumatic Visions
Rhox Meditant
Zombie Outlander
Kaleidostone
Asha's Favor
--> Rupture Spire
Vectis Agents
Molten Frame
Gluttonous Slime
Scornful Ęther-Lich
Mountain

The mana fixer seemed like the pick to me hear again as you can just do so many absurd things with domain in conflux.

Pack 1 pick 5:
--> Absorb Vis
Valeron Outlander
Sylvan Bounty
Quenchable Fire
Rotting Rats
Asha's Favor
Nacatl Outlander
Grixis Illusionist

More mana fixing early allows me to take whatever I like later on.

Pack 1 pick 6:
Absorb Vis
Valeron Outlander
Sylvan Bounty
Quenchable Fire
Rotting Rats
Asha's Favor
--> Nacatl Outlander
Celestial Purge
Cumber Stone
Mountain

I think now this pick maybe should have been celestial purge there are just so many good multi colour creatures it will almost always have a target but hey its my first time ever drafting this set up.

Pack 1 pick 7:
Zombie Outlander
--> Matca Rioters
Wretched Banquet
Vectis Agents
Quenchable Fire
Tukatongue Thallid
Jhessian Balmgiver

Sylvan Bounty
Aven Squire
Quenchable Fire
Rotting Rats
Asha's Favor
Nacatl Outlander
Grixis Illusionist
Cumber Stone
Corrupted Roots
Viashino Slaughtermaster

Another bomb I see no reason i can not play him despite having no cards in blue or white yet and nothing else in the pack is near.

Pack 2 pick 2:
Canyon Minotaur
Esper Cormorants
Unsummon
Rhox Meditant
Vedalken Outlander
Nacatl Savage
Wandering Goblins
Brackwater Elemental
Suicidal Charge
Maniacal Rage
Ancient Ziggurat
Nacatl Hunt-Pride
--> Sacellum Archers
Swamp

These guys were really good obvious pick again.

Pack 2 pick 3:
Wild Leotau
Dark Temper
Frontline Sage
Aven Squire
Wretched Banquet
Sylvan Bounty
Valiant Guard
Salvage Slasher
Goblin Outlander
Constricting Tendrils
Hellspark Elemental
--> Fleshformer
Forest

Awsome more domain goodness, easily my card of the tournament.

Pack 2 pick 4:
Canyon Minotaur
Traumatic Visions
Rhox Meditant
Zombie Outlander
Kaleidostone
Tukatongue Thallid
Asha's Favor
--> Rupture Spire
Vectis Agents
Molten Frame
Vagrant Plowbeasts
Island

The fixing felt like a better option than anything else as being able to make all 5 colours is just so good.

Pack 2 pick 5:
Faerie Mechanist
Bone Saw
Vedalken Outlander
Molten Frame
Rhox Bodyguard
Wandering Goblins
Might of Alara
--> Shard Convergence

Wild Leotau
Rotting Rats
Goblin Outlander
Court Homunculus
Worldly Counsel
Corrupted Roots
Ignite Disorder
--> Sacellum Archers
Mirror-Sigil Sergeant
Swamp

Sadly I have no blue creatures for sergeant so I can not take my 3rd bomb but sacellum archers is still a great pick.

Pack 3 pick 2:
Canyon Minotaur
Traumatic Visions
Rhox Meditant
Zombie Outlander
Kaleidostone
Tukatongue Thallid
Asha's Favor
Rupture Spire

Quenchable Fire
Tukatongue Thallid
Lapse of Certainty

Faerie Mechanist
Bone Saw
Sedraxis Alchemist
Vedalken Outlander
Molten Frame
Infectious Horror
Rhox Bodyguard
Wandering Goblins
--> Might of Alara

Pack 3 pick 14:
--> Constricting Tendrils
Plains

Pack 3 pick 15:
--> Forest

The deck

2 might of alara
1 armillary sphere
2 nactal outlander
1 nactal savage
1 drag down
1 ember weaver
1 fleshformer
1 giltspire avenger
2 macta rioters
1 paragon of the amesha
2 sacellum archers
1 shard convergence
2 canyon minotaur
1 goblin razerunners
2 kranioceros
1 fiery fall
1 sylvan bounty
2 Rupture Spire
1 plains
1 island
1 swamp
6 mountain
6 forest

sb

1 gleam of resistance
1 aven trail blazer
1 beacon behamoth

Think I built the deck a bit wrong despite curve the behemoth should probably be main deck over savage, no nactal or squire in this format and it feels a bit slower than tripple alara but I did not know that in my defence when i built deck. You could make a case for aven trailblazer also but I think its better in board for consistancy.

Feedback appreciated.

I would just like to thank you for picking Armillary Sphere as high as you did. The card is amazing. The wurm, while very good by itself, dosnt allow you the same draft options. options like playing goblin razerunners, giltspire avenger, fleshformer AND ember weaver in the same deck.

you passed up a sigil seargent? You essentially gave a person a win con, especially since you have no removal. You never ever give a con that will single handedly let them win a game, regardless of whether you can use it or not.

Yes, and if you do not pull that card, the first turn he puts it out, you lose the game, unless he is at 2 life and you have a flier. Not to mention you need at least 4 different types of basic land cards to pull it off.

sac archers is a "meh" card. It's not great, it's not awesome. I would take numerous buff cards such as might of alara, resounding roar, sigil blessing over it any day, or any bomb/semi-bomb.

You passed up a win con for a card that will not win you games, and takes mana to be somewhat usefull. the 2/3 that gets first strike and +1/0 with a red permant is a much better card then that for the mana cost.

Man sphere or spore burst that is a very tough card as those are both in the top 5 cards you want for the domain deck (paragon, borders, drag down) being the other 3. This being said I probably would have leaned towards burst as it is still very early in the draft and fixing is very easy to come by in this set. As many times as I draft the domain deck I have only lost about 1 match and that is against 5 power naya which is easily winnable the more chump blockers you have and burst gives you so much tempo advantage. It normally buys you at least 2-3 extra turns to just win with your better spells.

I also feel that pack 1 pick 6 should have been absorb vis as it is the 2nd best cycling fixer possible and gets even better than fiery fall for the more exploding borders you have. Similarly for pick 8 I would have taken visions. The more fixing you cut from the rest of people the more chance they will pass you cards they would normally splash but can't afford to.

And pack 2 pick 5. I know you thought shard convergence was good but overall when I have played the card it is just absolutely terrible. Once you hit four mana for it you generally have a very stable manabase and the card doesn't help to put you ahead at all. As a matter of fact normally you are already behind from fixing your mana for the first couple turns and can't afford to play it on turn four without taking a thumping. Purge, might, or wandering are all better picks here.

Then again I have been very lucky opening this set in drafts thus far. Anyway gl in the future hope this helps.

1 I have to get paired vs the person who took it
2 he has to draw it which is half as likely as me drawing one of my removal spells
3 I can still easily possibly race with fleshformers certainly with paragon of the amesha double might helps
4 if he has no blue permanent in play its no good

and have you looked at the deck you always have domain.
