So I recently came up with a domain-based deck, and took it to FNM, where it went 2-3. The matches I lost were all very close, though, within two or three life points of victory. The question now remains though: what can I do to improve it?

Frankly speaking, this is an extremely cheap deck, as you'll be see in the deck list:

This is a slightly newer version than the one I took to FNM, and I feel that it's a bit stabler and more consistent with keeping up threats. However, with all the R/W aggro decks floating around my area these days, I feel that it simply takes too long to get started, and once it does, it doesn't last for long enough to finish the job. Any suggestions on how I can speed it up a bit?

Play Maelstrom Archangel and Progenitus and Fusion Elemental while you're at it
Use Birds of Paradise
Reveillark doesn't really suit this deck much I think
Worldly Counsel instead of Ponder

I'd play weenie. Just like Zoo in extended.

4 Figure of Destiny
2 Ranger of Eos
4 Wild Nacatl
4 Mogg Fanatic
4 Tidehollow Sculler

4 Might of Alara
4 Incinerate


I think this should be the basic, but I haven't built a deck on this theme yet.

Actually, the main kill-cons of the deck are Exploding Borders, Horde of Notions, Matca Rioters, and Might of Alara. The point is to accel my land base, preferably hitting domain turn 3, then playing Exploding Borders or Horde of Notions with a Might of Alara attached to it the next turn.

Actually, the lark worked pretty well, giving me a 4/3 flier that I can pump to 9/8 or higher, and if it died, I can recover a Harbinger, Rioters, or Mulldrifter.

I'm not so sure about the omen. I toyed around with it a bit, but I decided that I'd rather have more lands in play, rather than having just the colors, since I'm really only playing three colors (G/U/R) early game, which I use to ramp up to domain. I totally forgot about Nacatl though, so I think I'll try that.

you can't return matca rioters with rev unless you have only two or less basic land types in play. it's p/t while it's in the graveyard is still equal to the # of basic land types you have in play. same as tarmogoyf/terravore/etc.

Yep, Dallas area; Comic Asylum. Very Happy

Also, I've changed the deck a bit. -3 Reveillarks, -3 Jhessian Infiltrators, -3 Flamekin Harbingers, -3 Sylvan Bounty, -1 Matca Rioters, and +4 Firespout, +3 Banefire, +2 Child of Alara, +1 Horde of Notions, +3 Dawnglow Infusion, and put in Naturalizes and Martial Coups in the sideboard to make up for the cards I took out.

I don't think Knight would help me much, because although I can search for other lands, it costs and land to do it, plus he's a 3-drop who can't use his ability until turn 4. The main thing is that I have to sacrifice a land to search, and I pretty much need every land I can drop.

If you need every land you drop, you could try to run more than 22 lands, 4 of which are Terramorphic Expanse.

I was one of the big group that came from Mabank. I played WR Lark. I was at the back table all FNM. So yea good to know you use this forum as well. Stay in touch.
