|
|
Have people forgotten about Tarmofolk, or is it really too slow and not tier 1 anymore...or was it ever? Seems decent looking at the list below done by Marcio Carvalho:
Please comment on why you think doran is viable tier 1 or not, and why its popularity has shrinken...
And would this be a good deck to play going into an unknown meta, seeing that the field for ext is wide open with LSV winning plenty GPs n PTs with various ext decks...

4x Dark Confidant
4x Doran the Siege Tower
4x Kitchen Finks
4x Tarmogoyf
4x Tidehollow Sculler
4x Thoughtseize
2x Condemn
2x Putrefy
2x Smother
2x Chrome Mox
3x Umezawa's Jitte
2x Bloodstained Mire
2x Forest
2x Godless Shrine
2x Overgrown Tomb
1x Plains
3x Swamp
2x Temple Garden
3x Treetop Village
4x Windswept Heath

| It seems a good deck for an unknown meta, the surprise factor will help you, might want a back-up plan in case they play Blood Moon. |

2x Condemn
2x Putrefy
2x Smother
that cant be right, you need to find the best removal spell for the metagame you expect, i would suggest the new one path to exile because you want to be able to remove a deus on turn 1 and also remove a blocker so i think that should be your number 1 choice and probably smther as the next best removal, but smother is clearly better if you dont expect all in red. Other then that i think its a fine deck

Yea path to exile would be a clear pick keysam i agree, but the ptq is next weekend and the conflux cards wont be legal, so i guess i'll stick with smothers n a putrefy or two, but i might change the sideboard a little bit in the event that elves might be popular...
maybe slaughter pact would be a decent choice, take 0 from bob as well |

Because any of those cards matter....If they don't have turn 1 deus on the play you can distrupt it, most of the fae deks are playing shackles, and archmage isn't very good against you. |

| i dont think P to E is a good card at all. It is basically a better version of utopia sprawl. Remind me again, was utopia sprawl any good ever? |

| I'm sorry, I must have missed the part where those two cards are even remotely similar? A creature removal spell and an "enchant Forest" card? Where do you get your comparison from? |

Is it just me or does Bitterblossom seem really clunky in the sideboard? I would think that something that draws cards would be better. Phrexian Arena comes to mind. Krosan Grip or more Putrify could be good as well.
No one really plays Arena anymore for good reason I guess. It could make a good swap for Dark Confidant in the burn and zoo matches. It could also be very good vs decks like TRON, Fae, or Gifts.
I guess the best choice in an undefined meta would be Krosan Grip as it covers a lot of issues you could face. |

he's comparing it to utopia vow:
pacify this creature and it adds mana.
there's a few differences
1. it costs one less
2. the creature is actually gone (rfg a plus)
3. instant
the new card is very very good. also it can duck your bob, be an accelerant off your birds etc to avoid cloud effects etc etc. the card is very very good.
another card you should consider for metas is mana tithe. it's similar in powerlevel to stifle as far as tempo goes. going turn 3 goyf with garden open or so is pretty nasty. or turn 3 bob with garden open... etc etc. |

Does everyone think that the above version done by Marcio is the best version of Doran to play? Seeing that TEPS just won the GP 4x tidehollow and 4x thoughtseize main seems like good evasion cards, whether it'll be enough game 1 will be uncertain but I think this version is the best Tarmofolk out.
If you think another version will do better against an unknown meta, please list it and tell why? Feedback is going great btw thx to all who are helping! |
