This is the official thread for the Sealed Championship Series competition. I will be using this thread to update the schedule and standings. If you have any suggestions please make them in the original post, at http://www.magic-league.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=10933 .

Schedule:

While the formats for the tournament have been decided the actual schedule of events has only been decided for the first four days (i.e. this week). What the order of tournaments will be afterwards is yet to be decided.

Here are the first four tournaments, followed by the list of other tournaments that we will run:

Mon Jan. 19: Alpha-Alpha-Alpha
Tues Jan. 20: Shadowmoor - Eventide - Eventide
Wed Jan. 21: Onslaught - Legions - Scourge
Thurs Jan. 22: Mirrodin - Antiquities - Antiquities

Mercadian Masques - Nemesis - Prophecy
Time Spiral - Arabian Nights - Arabian Nights
Champions of Kamigawa - Legends - Legends
Lorwyn - Fallen Empires - Fallen Empires
10th - The Dark - Homelands
Revised - Revised - Revised
Ice Age - Alliances - Coldsnap
4th - 5th - 6th
Mirage - Visions - Weatherlight
Tempest - Stronghold - Exodus
Urza's Saga - Urza's Legacy - Urza's Destiny
Invasion - Planeshift - Apocalypse
Odyssey - Torment - Judgment
Mirrodin - Darksteel - Fifth Dawn
Champions - Betrayers - Saviors (Kamigawa)
Ravnica - Guildpact - Dissension
Time Spiral - Planar Chaos - Future Sight
Lorwyn - Morningtide-Morningtide
7th - 8th - 9th
Portal 3K - Portal1 - Portal2
Chronicles - Chronicles - Chronicles
Alara-Conflux-Conflux

Scoring:

Here is the scoring system that will be used:

6 points per win
4 x # of players points for 1st place (ex. 32 points for 8 player tournament)
2 x # of players points for 2nd place (ex. 16 points for 8 player tournament)
1 x # of players points for Semifinals (ex. 8 points for 8 player tournament)

All points are cumulative from each tournament. Therefore it is to your advantage to play in as many tournaments as possible.

Prizes:

Magic-League has generously offered up 2 byes to the winner of the competition and 1 bye to the runner up for the first master that occurs after the completion of the sealed championship series. I will also be giving $5 (or a choice of rares from my personal collection) to the player who wins the most individual tournaments. If there is a tie the tiebreakers will be most second places, most semifinals and then overall rank. And I will also give $5 (or choice of rares) to the person who finishes highest without winning the other prize. It isn't possible for one player to win both prizes.

Best luck to all the competitors and I hope we have a fun competition.

I can't post exact times ahead of time. I'll try to post them as soon as I can, but as I'm running this all by myself I can't guarantee anything ahead of time.

I can say that tonight's sealed will start at 9:30 pm Japan Time (a little more than 4 hours tonight).

I will also post the standings after two tournaments, and links to the results for the first two tournaments after the tournament tonight.

Also please don't post in this thread. It makes it harder for players to find the relevant information in this thread. Please use the link posted in the first post of this post to make comments.

Here are the standings after three tournaments:

It's still very early. Anyone could still win the competition, even people who haven't taken part yet. And as there are also prizes for second place, there's still a lot at stake.

Here's the information for the third tournament: http://www.magic-league.com/tournament/info.php?id=48916

A note on prizes: As I am running the tournament and have the advantage of automatically being able to play in all the tournaments, I am ineligible for the byes for the master.

I just wanted to post and say thanks for running these minis... and I'm not even from Japan. I just think it's a cool idea to promote tournament series like this. I'd like to see more of this kind of thing in the future from other judges (or yourself) - good idea hope it goes over well Smile
