Hey got another draft for you where I did not go rb went naya and won vs Kittyfishnets in the final who I believe is a modosharker so shouts out to him.

Event #: 110841
Time: 11/20/2008 10:07:19 PM
Players:
Doc Vacation
--> ElementalMox
Daelikstrust
Drachenpapi
Pudding is Delicious
KittyFishnets
jiggy
gatemaster71

------ ALA ------

Pack 1 pick 1:
Outrider of Jhess
Where Ancients Tread
Resounding Silence
Grixis Panorama
Deathgreeter
Resounding Roar
Esper Charm
Vectis Silencers
Kederekt Creeper
Scourge Devil
Branching Bolt
Obelisk of Bant
--> Woolly Thoctar
Island
Hissing Iguanar

This was a very tough pack for me as I do not like taking 3 colour cards first pick but the branching bolt is almost as much of a commitment and the other card I would consider taking scourge devil is alot weaker, so after much deliberation I gambled on the throctar

Pack 1 pick 2:
Kederekt Creeper
Call to Heel
Sangrite Surge
Cathartic Adept
Godtoucher
Yoked Plowbeast
Magma Spray
Forest
Dispeller's Capsule
Dregscape Zombie
Obelisk of Esper
Fire-Field Ogre
Undead Leotau
--> Bull Cerodon

Hmm spray vs the bull as I already have the throctar i went with the bull, though i think its still a close call

Pack 1 pick 3:
Goblin Mountaineer
Bant Charm
--> Vithian Stinger
Filigree Sages
Shore Snapper
Steward of Valeron
Cloudheath Drake
Glaze Fiend
Knight of the White Orchid
Swamp
Jund Panorama
Mosstodon
Rockcaster Platoon

I love stingers as you all know by now.

Pack 1 pick 4:
Relic of Progenitus
Tidehollow Strix
--> Jund Panorama
Windwright Mage
Infest
Skeletal Kathari
Hindering Light
Necrogenesis
Guardians of Akrasa
Island
Lush Growth
Obelisk of Naya

Between the guardians and the panorama I am finding it hard and harder to get fixing later in the drafts as I think most people are leaving it till the last pack when they are confidant enough they have enough playables, so i took the fixing early.

Pack 1 pick 5:
--> Bloodpyre Elemental
Cancel
Immortal Coil
Resounding Scream
Shadowfeed
Bloodthorn Taunter
Agony Warp
Tortoise Formation
Naya Panorama
Bant Battlemage
Forest

As is often the case late warp, but the elemental is on colour removal

Pack 1 pick 6:
Tidehollow Sculler
Etherium Astrolabe
Swamp
Soul's Grace
Carrion Thrash
Obelisk of Bant
Kathari Screecher

Pack 1 pick 7:
--> Naturalize
Obelisk of Grixis
Resounding Scream
Blightning
Tortoise Formation
Resounding Wave
Plains
Sighted-Caste Sorcerer
Sphinx's Herald

A bit early but okay

Pack 1 pick 8:
Dreg Reaver
Brilliant Ultimatum
Mountain
Ridge Rannet
Guardians of Akrasa
Lush Growth
--> Druid of the Anima
Swerve

I think its close between the druid and the guardian but i think with the deck I am drafting druid is better

Pack 1 pick 9:
Outrider of Jhess
Grixis Panorama
Deathgreeter
--> Resounding Roar
Kederekt Creeper
Scourge Devil
Island

Wow the devil tabled wow, Its good but I do not think it suits our deck so the roar is the pick.

Pack 1 pick 10:
Call to Heel
Sangrite Surge
Cathartic Adept
Godtoucher
Forest
--> Dispeller's Capsule

Pack 1 pick 11:
Goblin Mountaineer
Filigree Sages

Pack 1 pick 12:
--> Windwright Mage
Hindering Light
Island
Lush Growth

Pack 1 pick 13:
--> Resounding Scream
Tortoise Formation
Forest

Pack 1 pick 14:
Swamp
--> Soul's Grace

Pack 1 pick 15:
--> Tortoise Formation

------ ALA ------

Pack 2 pick 1:
Cloudheath Drake
--> Battlegrace Angel
Soul's Grace
Goblin Deathraiders
Swamp
Esper Charm (FOIL)
Skeletal Kathari
Seaside Citadel
Oblivion Ring
Wild Nacatl
Bant Battlemage
Thoughtcutter Agent
Mosstodon
Incurable Ogre
Obelisk of Naya

On colour bomb thankyou, shame I have to pass the o-ring

Carrion Thrash
Steelclad Serpent
Crumbling Necropolis
Viscera Dragger
Cloudheath Drake
--> Knight of the Skyward Eye (FOIL)
Viashino Skeleton
Hissing Iguanar
Grixis Panorama
Island

The Algae is really good but i think the knight is a little stronger thoughts, generally when Im unsure between two cards I take the one with the lower cc.

Pack 2 pick 4:
Thoughtcutter Agent
Angelic Benediction
Mountain
Cylian Elf
Cunning Lethemancer
Jhessian Lookout
--> Soul's Fire
Skeletal Kathari
Vectis Silencers
Elvish Visionary
Waveskimmer Aven
Dragon Fodder

I think this is a close call between the bendiction and the souls fire, I went with the souls fire and as you will see later the decision payed off.

Pack 2 pick 5:
Jungle Shrine
--> Wild Nacatl
Call to Heel
Druid of the Anima
Outrider of Jhess
Behemoth's Herald
Viscera Dragger
Courier's Capsule
Excommunicate
Plains
Thorn-Thrash Viashino

I already have some reasonable fixing and nactal is very good.

Pack 2 pick 6:
Bone Splinters
Jungle Weaver
Swerve
Swamp
Goblin Mountaineer
Thorn-Thrash Viashino
Etherium Sculptor
Marble Chalice
Goblin Deathraiders
--> Elvish Visionary

Pack 2 pick 7:
Sigil Blessing
Marble Chalice
Goblin Deathraiders
Mountain
--> Court Archers
Thorn-Thrash Viashino
Deathgreeter

Tough call between this and the blessing but I like exalted I already have a combat trick and aerial defensive capablilties is great.

Undead Leotau
Etherium Astrolabe
Blightning
Mindlock Orb

Cycles, randomly wins games from time to time

Marble Chalice
Steelclad Serpent
Viashino Skeleton
--> Grixis Panorama
Island

Pack 2 pick 12:
Thoughtcutter Agent

Grixis Panorama
Grixis Battlemage
Scourge Devil (FOIL)
Savage Hunger
Bone Splinters
Death Baron

Viashino Skeleton
Forest
Call to Heel
Dispeller's Capsule
Island (FOIL)
Blood Cultist
Spell Snip
--> Excommunicate
Jhessian Infiltrator
Lich's Mirror
Viscera Dragger

Deck does not really need other fatties but with 2 nactals the tempo off excommunicate can be devestating so thats my pick

Pack 3 pick 4:
Deathgreeter
Volcanic Submersion
Spell Snip
Resounding Wave
Relic of Progenitus
Sigil Blessing
Soul's Might
Dawnray Archer
--> Qasali Ambusher

Ooze Garden
Obelisk of Jund

First of all, you're getting the hang of drafting Naya, which is good, because if you know how to draft Naya, you can make BEASTLY decks.

Now that that's out of the way, I actually have very few comments on this draft, but a few of your picks didn't make sense.

Another note: OBELISKS. Please take some, they are good fixing in any 3 color deck, especially Naya where you want to be able to ramp into fatties.

P2P6: Jungle Weaver > Visionary. Both can be 2 mana for a card, but Weaver can also be more late game.

P2P7: Sigil Blessing > Court Archers. With the Nacatl and the Knights you already have, you want to go aggro, not in with 1 creature. Exalted is useless here, aggro them before they get on tempo.

P2P9: Obelisk of Naya > Skeletal Kathari. For the love of god, take that obelisk! Kathari isn't even something you would splash black for!

P3P5: Kiss of the Amesha > Deft Duelist. If you're going to hate ANYTHING in this pack, it's the Kiss. That card is just sick and wrong. You have no problem dealing with duelist in your deck.

Deck looks good with what you picked, using my picks you would probably put in Weaver instead of Visionary and Blessing instead of Archers, and take out MB angelsong/naturalize for the Obelisk.

Overall, great draft, and sick deck:)

Just a question: Why wouldn't you consider taking resounding silence in your first pick?:/

I am not a fan of resounding silence, your def right on the kiss but I diagree on the obelisks Im happy if my opponent plays on of them turn 3 rather than a relevant spell.

Will answer all other questions and stuff tomoz morning I have got to get to bed:P

Resounding silence is one of the best commons in the set, not being a fan of it is like not being a fan of sex:P

Disagree all you wish, but obelisks are good and you should be using at least 1 in a Naya deck, ESPECIALLY when it's over Skelethal Kathari:/

naya wants 1 and exactly 1 obelisk. in the case here it could help ramp into bull ceredon but also provides the mana for altegame resoundings.

the court archers pick is actually correct. apart from being the optimal turn 3 followup to knight, it makes a 3/3 swinging knight. the only "downside" to sky-eye is that he ties your mana. as a 3/3 he gets to beat without any other worries and u can keep other options open.

there's several hissing iguanars you left out there... i'm wondering how much you considered them. 3 power for 3 is good and allows for powerful lategame pushes.

grab an obelisk and grab jungle weaver. those are the only 2 mispicks. with those 2 picks you'd have 2 cyclers, druid, and obelisk letting you play 16 land with ease.

In your drafts you always dismiss good fatties like Cavern Thoctar and Mosstodon. These 2 cards are way better than you rate them. They both have 5 power so they're amazing in a 5power deck but just being fat is pretty good (mainly the Thoctar which doesn't die to most red removal cards). They're also powerful with the guy that gives +2/+2 and flying when it comes into play.

I like the igunars but I think most of them I passed were after I had opened the battlegrace angel at which point it became clear that the red was going to be my splash colour so any red card had to be significantly better than any green or white card for me to take it.

Yes Im not a fan of fatties over almost anything else, in other formats where there are less to choose from they are more important but in this format its easy to pick up a perfectly fine one much later, so I do not take them early. In something like tripple rav after removal cards like rotwurm and siege wurm would be my next pick but not so in this format.

Bull Ceredon is much better then magma spray, Since u already have the thoctar u can get a good deck with drumhunters and such. I do like magma spray alot but the bull is so much better.

I think the visionary/jungle weaver pick is just prefence as they are about the same power level imo. personally i would take the weaver but i cant fault u for wanting the visionary.

Sigil Blessing is amazing. much much better then archers. While i love exalted in naya i think archers isnt that great. I like the squire for some great earlier damage if u dont draw the nacatls.

Nacatl in naya is amazing, its a bomb. Taking it over the ambusher was 100% correct.

The skeletal over the obelisk is bad. even if u dont plan on playing it, take it anyways. You might open another bomb in p3. Especially if its something like another bull, a flameblast dragon or a predator dragon or any other multicolored or double/triple color costed cards. If that happens youll definatly want to play the obelisk.

I dont like hating the duelist. if u wanted to hate take the kiss and thats a complete house vs u if they stabilize it will get them out of burn range or roar range or even welkin guide on a big bull. But personally i wouldve taken the plowbeast.

obelisk over kathari and weaver over visionary,

however, the pick I disagree with most is p2p5. All the trilands are SO good, fixing your mana for free, and allowing you to play key spells such as Wolly Thoctor and Rip Clan Crasher on curve (the big reason I prefer rb to naya). Nacatl is generally a 2/2 for 1 until turn 4-5, when it's a 3/3. Yes this is still powerful, and yes, if you get lucky and mana out perfectly (esp. on the play) it's a real beating. But you're talking best case scenarios, and compared to jungle shrine which is ALWAYS amazing, I can't see why you don't even consider the pick.

p1p1 I take resounding silence, your pick is still justified

When I say you always dismiss fatties I'm not saying you did anything wrong in particular in this draft. It's just that you should rate them a little bit higher.

And I have to agree with dv8r. You already had some fixing in form of 2 jund panorama. First the tri-lands are way way better than panoramas and those 2 panoramas don't even have your 3 colors. Also panoramas aren't that good in aggro decks. The tri-land would have been the pick here.

I think it would be helpful for us to know what you had for breakfast and why, as well as if you are wearing socks or not when you draft/play. If you have time to eat breakfast or put on socks between drafts, that is.

I nad nothing for breakfast as I got up at 2pm as i currently have a bad cold. I am always wearing socks when I draft though not the sports type I like to wear as my mum felt they were damaging the new carpet so she binned them all and got me all these new rubbish thin ones which do not warm my feet stupid carpet.

My drafts never finish late enough to eat breakfast, generally they finish sometime between 12-2am, as I am already wearing socks I do not need to put more on, though that maybe an idea I should consider as the ones I wear now are so thin and crappy.

Hope this helps.
