So I have a Nucklavee in play and I cast Heat Shimmer. Can you stack up the effects so that you get the Heat Shimmer back in your hand with Nucklavee's first cip effect? If so, then how would you abuse this effect?

Heat Shimmer | 2R | Sorcery | Put a token into play that's a copy of target creature. It has haste and "At end of turn, remove this permanent from the game." | [ LRW]

Nucklavee | 4(U/R)(U/R) | Creature - Beast | 4/4 | When Nucklavee comes into play, you may return target red sorcery card from your graveyard to your hand. When Nucklavee comes into play, you may return target blue instant card from your graveyard to your hand. | [ EVE]

as last part of its resolution, a spell is put into its owners graveyard.

This is how it works:

You play Heat Shimmer, it resolves, creates a copy, now Nucklavee comes into play, triggers. However, its trigger is not put onto the stack yet, this won t happen until after the Heat Shimmer completed its resolution. As last part of its resolution, a spell is put into its owners graveyard. So Heat Shimmer is now put into a graveyard, then has finished its resolution. NOW, Nucklavee s trigger stacks, and you determine its targets. At this time, Heat Shimmer is already in your graveyard -> You can target it with your Nucklavee-token and return Heat Shimmer to your hand.

So you could create a "soft lock" with Nucklavee, Heat Shimmer, and Cryptic Command. That's crazy. Even more crazy is that you would make it a "hard lock" with Teferi.

I was thinking about this for block. Does anyone know if this could be a hard lock in Lorwyn Block? No cards really come to mind. Though Mind Shatter for their hand then setup the Nucklavee, Heat Shimmer, and Cryptic Command lock sounds very hard to setup.

Now I need to make a deck.

3 less mana. Cryptic + Nuck = 10 mana total.

Ok, question answered, lets keep the strategy for other, more suitable, forums.
