I think that Shatering Spree and Chain of Vapor are really important to the Afinity matchup. I would think about one more of each in the sb. Also the deck needs a soild answer to Chant. Not the deck just the spell.

I think that the first think the you will see is the SB changes. I think that Breath of Darigaaz is better in most matchup then Pyroclasm. Decimate is good but can not be played in in every matchup. (it is a good anwser to a Bob with Armadillo Cloak and Umezawa's Jitte on it. That is really scary! ) I am not really sure about the one Cabal Therapy in the SB. It is nice to have also. So anymore thoughts?

I can't help but to love this deck but it is one turn to slow to beat Dredge decks. I have the deck tuned to go off on turn three now what am I missing that can improve the deck. For referance this is the most updated list that I am playing. My list is close to a merging of the three lists that I have seen. Here are the links to the lists that I hve referanced for this build.

Mind's Desire by Brian Schneider 1st place 1-6-2008

TEPS by Brandon Scheel, winner Gen Con Extended $1000

TEPS Desire played by Frank Karsten

Here is the list that I made from the merging of the three differant builds and updated sideboard to fight Dredge and Affinty decks. The deck does still have it's flaws (Trickbind and Discard weakness) I think that it's still a strong and budget minded deck choice. (damn the puns)*

I've played storm a lot, back in T2/old ext/through all its variations in T1/1.5, but I'm not too arrogant to ask questions =P.

1-Why the lone chain of vapor? In T1 CoV is useful for a lot of things, like increasing storm count on your moxen/bouncing Colossus or Orchard to buy a turn/Hitting troublesome artifacts/Meddling Mage/pitchable to FoW. Here it seems very limited, the only really good target I can see for it is MM, and even that seems iffy and not md worthy. Wont chalice be set at 0 and one? As an untutorable one of, isn't it more clunky than anything else, especially with 4x burning wish to grab sb answers?

All things considered, why did people run it in the first place, and why does it still see play? With the prevalence of Dredge, is echoing truth always preferable or only in some cases?

2-Counterbalance is a major player in the current meta. In 1.5, it's almost impossible to deal with, the main strategy is to just try and win before they can cast it, much less likely here in 1.x. Aside from making duress MD more preferable to Orim's chant, how have storm players come to deal with this? Hull breach, while tutorable, is very counterable by the very spell you're trying to hate out!

3- I realize why people have drifted away from Jelger Wiegersma's version, as coming up with double blue while playing it is hard. On the other hand, Careful Study is sick in the deck, increasing the chance of a turn 2/3 kill by quite a lot. Taking out lotus blossom makes UU for desire harder, but it also makes the deck more resilient to artifact kill and chalice. What if we alter the manabase to make UU easier to come across? Then we'd still have the broken turn one careful study ditching desire, turn two rituals/sins win, while not getting screwed quite as often.
