Shapesharer has an ability:
2U: Target Shapeshifter becomes a copy of target creature until your next turn.

It doesn't specify that the first target needs to be a creature or even a permanent.

Suppose my opponent casts Nameless Inversion, and I respond by trying to activate Shapesharer's ability with Nameless Inversion as the first target and a Scribe Sprites as the second target?

Common sense says Nameless Inversion is an invalid target, but there are plenty of other instances of one card type becoming another card type, and Shapesharer's text only specifies that it must be a shapeshifter.

Also, if there existed a Shapeshifter tribal enchantment, what would happen if I tried to target it with Shapesharer?

Also, what happens if rather than targeting a shapeshifter creature with Shapesharer, I tried to target a shapeshifter summon spell while it's still on the stack?

Shapesharer.

Just like when something asks for an 'Elf' it means something in play. Target Shapeshifter has to be a Shapeshifter in play.

If there was a Shapeshifter Enchantment you could make that a copy of a creature. Effectively, it would stop being an enchantment and be an exact copy of the creature until you start your next turn.

So if [creature type] is used as a standalone noun, then it means any permanent, whereas "[creature type] card" describes a card in any zone? I guess that makes sense. Thank you!

almost.

[creature type] card describes a card in any zone BUT the stack and in play

[creature type] spell references a card on the stack
