if you have a verzion cell phone, try using VCast music identifier. If you had a way for me to listen to the song without downloading it, then I could be of further assistance.

I didn't bother listening to the song, but if there are lyrics, try to identify them and then search for them online.

Most major death metal bands are easy to tell apart.

I didn't even hear it, but I bet it was either Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, Cattle Decapitation or something like that.

Death Metal is boring, but ignore Coolcreep. Some people are incapable of understanding why someone might like something that isn't powerchords and some dude singing about when he was a teenager and other popularly accepted motifs.

It is not any of those more mainstream bands Engrish, that I do know. Btw, some Death Metal does suck but some is awsome. You want to see music that sucks, look at the current Billboard Top 100.

Right now I am pretty psyched on grindcore/thrash/hardcore.

Stuff like Pig Destroyer and Ed Gein.

Those three genres sort of blend together though in most newer bands.

Some bands misclassify themselves as death metal on myspace though...which is weird, but I guess it is mostly to expand their fanbase and stuff.

Death metal to me is way tuned down instruments with a dude grunting about death with lots of blast beats on the double kicker.

Grindcore/thrash to me is a guy incoherently screaming with each instrument playing a different song seemingly.

Right now Im getting into ALl Shall Perish and Skyfire, though I still listen to the Biggies (Canibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, Obituary, Decide) along with some smaller acts, Dying Fetus, Napalm Death, Hypocracy, At the Gates, and Bolt Thrower. I cant stand some death metal/grind core/black metal/melodic metal/"what ever you want to call it" bands though. I hate Job for a Cowboy for example. A pig squel is not a death growl!

At any rate, I played with Kataklysm a few years back. Really cool guys. My guitar screwed up before the show and one of their guitarists (I forget his name) let me use his spare Ibanez. Really cool guy.

I got kinda bored with metal in general. Is it just more or do all the bands sound the same now?
