It depends on what your looking at...if you want to play competitivley you need to decide what format(s) you want to play...extended,Standard, and block are all well within your price range...then you should play some decks on here ...find the deck you like...find what cards you already have and then buy it online with singles...buying packs isnt a good way to invest your money unless you are drafting practicing...
also some staples you might want to pick up are cards like wrath of god, damnation, painlands, fetches and shocklands...among other cards |

| I will most likely be playing Casual, T2, Extended and some T1.5... I have a playset of WoG BoP Damnation Extripate Twincast and most of the T2 stuff... but what I am really looking at is whether or not to buy some Power 9 or old duals, playsets of FoW and some other1.5 staples... |

My advice to you is this.
4x Force of Will
4x Polluted Delta
4x Flooded Strand
4x Wooded Foothills
4x Bloodstained Mire
4x Windswept Heath
4x Quirion Dryad
4x Tarmogoyf
4x Chalice of the Void
4x Cunning Wish
4x Burning Wish
4x Living Wish
Choose an extended deck they probably run around 300-400 at most and fetches will probably be included in that cost anyway. It depends what you are looking to play in legacy right now. If you want to play gobbos get some piledrivers, thresh tarmogoyfs and FoWs, or something else perhaps aluren deeds, FoWs, and the very pricey imperial recruiters. You could try to get a deck that is similar for both legacy and extended such as a goblins variant and that would make it even less. If you have any money left over it is always great to invest on duals. If you decide to buy a piece of power I advise either recall or mox sapphire as they will probably be used the most in any t1 deck you would play however they are 2 of the 3 most expensive. I don't know how you feel about foils but if you are a foil fiend then you could foil out a legacy/extended deck for not too much more. |
