Coral Trickster - {1}{U}
Creature - Merfolk Rogue (Common)
Morph {U}
When Coral Trickster is turned face up, you may tap or untap target permanent.
2/1

Blah!

Strangling Soot - {2}{B}
Instant (Common)
Destroy target creature with toughness 3 or less.
Flashback {5}{R}

Flashback, cool. Card, sucks!

Scion of the Ur-Dragon - {W}{U}{B}{R}{G}
Legendary Creature - Dragon Avatar (Rare)
Flying
{2} : Search your library for a Dragon card and put it into your graveyard. If you do, Scion of the Ur-Dragon becomes a copy of that card until end of turn. Then shuffle your library.
4/4

Very interesting. I can see this being abused in a Reanimator style deck.

Chronatog Totem - {3}
Artifact (Uncommon)
{T} : Add {U} to your mana pool.
{1}{U} : Chronatog Totem becomes a 1/2 blue Atog artifact creature until end of turn.
{0} : Chronatog Totem gets +3/+3 until end of turn. You skip your next turn. Play this ability only once each turn and only if Chronatog Totem is a creature.

Only good w/ cards like Smokestack, etc.

Terramorphic Expanse
Land (Common)
{T} , Sacrifice Terramorphic Expanse : Search your library for a basic land card and put it into play tapped. Then shuffle your library.

Crappy version of a sac land.

Grapeshot - {1}{R}
Sorcery (Common)
Grapeshot deals 1 damage to target creature or player.
Storm

Wow, I would have to do 20 spells to kill my opponent, no thanks.

Krosan Grip - {2}{G}
Instant (Uncommon)
Split Second (As long as this spell is on the stack, players can't play spells or activated abilities that aren't mana abilities)
Destroy target artifact or enchantment.

Ooooh, Wizards is bringing back interrupts. Die Jitte and you can't be countered....hahaha.

Kher Keep
Legendary Land (?)
{T} : Add {1} to your mana pool.
{1}{R}, {T} : Put a 0/1 red Kobold creature token named Kobolds of Kher Keep into play.

I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT. This is a great casual card.

You could replicate grapeshot with Izzet guildmage! Too bad Storm doesn't trigger.

Besides Hunted Dragon, there are no other good Dragons in Ravnica to speak of. Rememeber the Kami rotation? Every thing must go, even you Kokusho!

Niv-Mizzet would like a word with you. In T2, he's not going to be a beast, unless they print a reanimator at the 2cc.

In extended, I could see some sort of Dragonanimator deck being made.

This is gonna be one broken ass set. If it gets support, I could even see the merfolk card being used.

Coral Trickster: morph is lame and this card is an excellent example of why.

Strangling Soot: flashback is awesome. Looking forward to that again. Highly competitive mechanic. Pretty decent sideboard card, 2 for 1 against agro decks all day long.

Scion of the Ur-Dragon: Ugh....reanimation or tribal? either way im not looking forward to it.

Chronatog Totem: this card brings up a lot of interesting stuff: are they going to pseudo-reprint other togs? or other color defining creatures as artifacts? or are they reprinting him solely for his combo-ness(as a stasis turn skipper or the synergy of being a creature sometimes) An interesting card, a good preview card brings up a lot of interesting discussion points. Depending on how the block is setup will determine the quality of it.

Terramorphic Expanse: Basic sacland, it was inevitable. I like it, seems great for limited.

Grapeshot: as much as I dislike the storm mechanic, I like this card a lot. It seems pretty decent in limited. It can easily do 2 damage for 2 mana and pretty easily do 3 or 4. As a combo storm card its pretty bad.

Krosan Grip: Interrupts with relevant abilities? I hope they don’t go too excessive with this mechanic.

Kher Keep: nice throw back. Doesn’t feel like a it belongs in the red pie anymore though, making the most effective and cheap reacuring chumb blockers. Its definitely cute. (im puting my money on kobolds, being the "red creature reprinted in 10th that Randy Buehler was talking about"

From what I’ve been able to gather so far is basically just a throw back set. Overall from the previews so far the set seems very uninspired, just rehashing old concepts and doesn’t look very fun competitively speaking. Would be nice as a casual set like a 4th set of the year like, a stand alone set like coldsnap, the core editions, or the Un-sets; that would be included into type 2 . I have my doubts about a block that is centered around being a rehashing of other sets though. It seems cute but not a good idea for competitive magic. That’s just judging from the previews though. I’ll need to see the whole list before I can really cast judgment.

I don't really consider Coldsnap as a stand-alone set. It's the missing set from Ice Age block! Homelands is the set that's stand-alone.

stand alone in the sense that it’s the 4th set of the year that has nothing to do with the other sets of the year or the current block.

I don't see how you think this is a crappy version of a sac land. Unless I'm reading it wrong I don't see how this card isn't great. It will see major Type 2 Play. And since it's a common it's a Great replacement for expensive dual lands.

It’s the putting it into play taped that knocks it down a notch. Nothing worse then needing your 4th mana to WoG to stop a lethal attack next turn and top decking a land that comes into play taped. Yeah it’s a land, but if you were playing a basic land or pain land or shockland over it you wouldn’t be dead.

Also it only graps basic land cards, not basic land types.

Its nice for budget, fits in the current multi color deck environment well and is pretty nice as a mana fixer in limited(its common Smile).

good card.

The problem with every post in this thread is that they all focus entirely on Constructed. Limited is far more important, and those cards have me positively giddy for drafting Time Spiral.
