Hey people. I was trying to break Braid of Fire. Well, I couldn't find much support for it in Standard, so I gave Extended a try and came up with this:

Braid Control
Lands
5 Island
7 Mountain
2 Blinkmoth Nexus
1 Dark Depths
4 Shivan Reef
4 Steam Vents

Creatures
3 Kumano, Master Yamabushi
3 Shard Phoenix

Spells
2 Force Spike
2 Repeal
2 Mana Leak
4 Cunning Wish
3 Flaming Gambit
3 Ghitu Fire
4 Braid of Fire
2 Starstorm
3 Urza's Rage
3 Fire/Ice
3 Sensei's Divining Top

Sideboard
1 Repeal
2 Spell Snare
3 Counterspell
2 Mana Leak
1 Mana Short
1 Deluge
1 Evacuation
1 Starstorm
2 Isochron Scepter
1 Boseiju, Who Shelters All

The deck works fine against aggro, as long as it can keep the board as clean as possible. Versus control is tougher because the deck generaly wants to use all the mana right away. The sideboard can turn the deck in a mini-NO Stick and most cards are fetchable with Cunning Wish.

are the force spikes necessary? If so, why are there only two?

The Spikes are there to offer counter support but are not necissary. Should I substitute them for Spell Snares? Or something else?

How bout muddle in the mixture to fetch yoru braid and also stop those game shattering....Tooth and Nails, I knew there was a good instant/sorcery in this format. Also you should run 2 Deltas and 2 Strands to get yoru vents out, may'be more, and also you get to brush up on some vintage play by using Top (Kinda like brainstorm) and some fetchlands. Might I suggest some Arcane Laboratories for Heartbeat Combo, Shattering Spree for Affinity, and Caltrops for Ichorid?

But what if the opponent doesn't run creatures? Or no more creatures left on the board? What then? Too bad it can't target players.
