So, I downloaded MWS and made some decks. However, whenever I try to start a game (or in solitaire mode) it won't let me load my deck. When I try to load it, I get a message that says "Load deck error: invalid file format". I don't get it. The deck is saved as a .MwDeck file. What do you think the problem is? Thanks.

Well, if you start working with a proram it is for the best if you do things the easy way, and just edit a deck in mws and save it as an mes deck file.
When you are more comfortable with the program, you can edit txt files or such.

Are you using any Coldsnap cards? Over at either MWSData or the Magi-Soft forums, at least one person is having similar troubles. Not sure if its been resolved, though.

EDIT: I found the thread over at MWSData- the person got the same error you did. It seems to be some kind of import error or (in the case of a custom deck built with MWS) some kind of wrinkle/bug that pops up every once in a blue moon.

Basically, reinstall MWS and you should be cool.

Here's a link to an install guide that is apparently quite the balls:

http://www.mwsgames.com/index.php/MWS_Install_Guide

(note that the card count at the top of the page doesn't account for Coldsnap yet)

I think this other part might be related to my problem. When I make a deck and save it, everything seems fine. But when I reopen magic workstation at a later time, I get an information box that says "these cards were not found in the database". Then it displays the all the cards that were in the deck I last saved.

Anyways, I just tried reinstalling mws and it works fine now. Thanks!

Okay, so it looks like my MWS is working now. But how do I get a game going? Do I just sit and wait for an opponent or do I have to join the chatroom? I tried joining the chat room, but it seems like the chat window just shows up as a white box with a red "x" in the corner. You know, it looks like a picture that failed to download. Maybe I need to download something else? Thanks.

The easiest way to find a game is to connect to MWSPlay.net via MWSPlay.

The easiest way to find a game with people you want to play with is to use MIRC (Google it for download) and follow the instrucions here.
