A few weeks ago, the staff made me do an mlanti scan. I was clean (of course) and everything went fine. Until recently... Now, whenever I post my ip in the chat, it automatically disconnects from my opponent, or closes down altogether. I also get the winsock error FREQUENTLY. Not to mention slowness of my machine. Has anyone heard of this? Or is it mere coincidence?

I had the same problem. Just reinstall cause there is no noticable fix. I would have an opponent connect and it would immediatly say "Opponent has disconnected".

I'm pretty sure that this has nothing to do with you or any software you've run or anything you can install or reinstall.

I'm pretty sure that someone occasionally runs a script that listens in the chat room, and whenever it sees an i.p. address go by, it connects to the address, sends some junk message, and disconnects. (I've been monitoring my port 4747 traffic, and it looks like that's what's happening.)

Why would someone do this? To be a jerk, basically. I guess there's some sort of bragging rights. "Look, I figured out a new was to be a pain in the ass!"

If that's what's happening, then the best solution for now is to just look for opponents in the chat room, and then send your i.p. in private messages. It's annoying.

Well.. You actually aren't allowed to post your IP in the channels, so if you follow the rules, it'll be okay.

Well, I just read through the rules, and saw nothing about posting ips. Even for draft, which I formerly thought was the case. Thanks Mindless, cause thats EXACTLY what it feels like.
