So, what decent decks are there for the UG player in Standard?

I love UG and would like to enter tournaments piloting UG decks. I think that UG is playable, but the decks require a lot of testing and evolution due to the lack of a strong mechanic in Dissention. Obviously UG has bombs such as Gifts, Meloku, Keiga and Greater Good. But these decks have all been made with other colour combinations.

UG has the counters, the mana set up, the search/card advantage, the power, resources and some crazy rares to build around. Can you see anything for UG?

UG could have some potential as an aggro-control hybrid in my opinion. Looking at some cards from Kamigawa (Kudzu, Elder, Iwamori) shows it can go aggro, while many influences from Ravnica give a nice control base (Voidslime, Remand) and the new enchantment that makes drakes (forgot the name) gives a reliable outsource of sacrificial lambs in the shape of 2/2 fliers when you don't need to counter anything. Add onto that the fact that 9th kept a lot of MUC oriented stuff and you've got some great possibilities.

If you'd like to work together on coming up with something, feel free to PM me about it. I'll do what I can now that classes are out for the semester.

UG has possibly the best finisher around (including meloku), simic sky swallower, counterspells and WoG are THE ONLY ways this guy isnt gonna win the game for you, sure 7cc is alot, but meloku needs to be cast with mana to cover it, and it beats keiga and pals in a fight!

mana leak, remand, repeal, boomerang, voidslime, meloku, STE (or coiling oracle, which im not convinced is better), BoP, elves, reach, rewind, gigadrowse, SSS, top

im sure thats a deck!

I tend to like to play wacky decks just for the fun of it. My buddy and I have wanted to play Teferi's Puzzle Box in some other cool ways than Niv-Mizzet. We saw our combo with Psychic Possession. We just threw the list together tonight, it's still yet unplayed.

Creatures: 11

4 Sakura-Tribe Elder
4 Loaming Shaman
1 Meloku, the Clouded Mirror
1 Keiga, the Tide Star
1 Simic Sky Swallower

Enchantments: 4

3 Psychic Possession
1 Leafdrake Roost

Spells: 18

4 Remand
4 Mana Leak
4 Boomerang
4 Voidslime
2 Repeal

Artifacts: 4

4 Teferi's Puzzle Box

Lands: 23

5 Forest
6 Island
4 Breeding Pool
4 Yavimaya Coast
1 Oboro, Palace in the Clouds
1 Mikokoro, Center of the Sea
2 Simic Growth Chamber

Sideboard: 15

4 Pithing Needle
4 Carven Caryatid
4 Giant Solifuge
2 Kodama of the North Tree
1 Simic Sky Swallower

The combo is based around Teferi's Puzzle Box + Psychic Possession to create card advantage. Loaming Shaman recycles cards from the gy back into the rotating deck.
