Hello, I'm relatively new to online play (used Apprentice for deckbuilding mostly), and while most people have been helpful so far I wanted some tips on some situations when playing games on Apprentice:

1) Hosting: I've been trying to host with a dialup connection which should have port 4747 open, and I managed to get to see my opponent connect, and the bottom left of the screen said "waiting for opponent's action" but my opponent said he was seeing the same message and he couldn't click OK. Anyone had the same problem? (opponent was behind a router or firewalled)

2) Playing best of 3 games, starting and shuffling: I have problems sideboarding and then playing game 2... I go to the "sideboard" screen but then it seems I have to request a new game, is that normal?

Then, if I ask for the game but it is my opponent who has to start, we usually have to "take" 2 turns in a row so I can move between phases and such.

The last thing is I see people shuffling their decks very often and then requesting 7 cards, instead of keeping the cards Apprentice initially deals, it's that common, considered good manners, required?

Thanks in advance.

First after you sideboard it will say your requesting a new game, so yes that is normal.Second you can go to Game incremrnt or decrement turn so no 2 turns in a row thing needs to be done. Finally i dont really understand what you mean by the requesting 7 cards, can you explain that alittle more for me.

as Always im happy to help anyone.

@affinity: Reading the topic before posting is good.

Little misunderstanding? Sorry LordHawk.

Anyway, your opening hand should be set to zero and you should draw your opening hand manually. The cards you get if you input 7 aren't randomized correctly.

People don't request 7 cards and manually shuffle and draws so they can roll the dice to determine who plays and who draws. Also subconsciencely, people want to play exactly how they would play in real life so rolling and then drawing makes perfect sense.

Dogbert, punctuation is tech. The first part of your post was hardly readable.
To the original poster: You always set your initial hand size to 0, because poper procedures for beginning a game are: determine who starts, then starting player draws 7, decides on mul, then second player draws 7 and decides on mul. After that the game starts. So it has nothing to do with emulating your usual play, but with following procedures.

Thanks for all the answers.

You're right, I should draw the cards after determining who plays and who draws, so that was it.

I'll look up the game decrement or increment turn function.

On hosting, I'll have to try a little more.
