Well, we've saw Rakdos, the Defiler as of now
( http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=mtgcom/feature/326 )
Thoughts? To me, he's just another unplayable fat guild leader, as usual.
And we got a glimpse a Experiment Kraj
Now, honestly there's something about this guy just leaping out at me saying "Hey, put me in a deck with *insert card name here* and i'm broke as a joke!" but I can't decide what that card is, but whatever... |

i like them both, but neither seems playable in t2 constucted. The Blue/Green guy COULD be good if theres alot of those counter creatures with decent activated abilities. The R/B guy seems fun but overall bad. i think most sitituations go around like this:
1. tap 6 lands
2. next turn swing
3. sac half your lands
4. opponent respond with instant removal
5. then you lose |

D'ye realize that he can put those counters on other creatures if he wants to? |

| methinks rakdos is a viable reanimation target. trying to get rid of a huge clock becomes much harder when you lose permanents exponentially... |

Well obviously the guild leaders aren't good for constructed, but they do fit their role in the storyline.
Rakdos is much of a target and there are just way too many answers.
Mortify, Putrefy, Faith's Fetters, Pillory of the Sleepless, Shining ShoalWrath of God, Boomerang, Peel from Reality, Eye of Nowhere and etc. The only deck that doesn't have a single card answer for him is Zoo or Gruul. And they run burn.
But for reanimation he would be quite sweet with Dimir Doppleganger.
Rakdos has some sick art though. |

| Yeh Zoltan Boros and Gabor Szikszai, also did the art for electrolyzes as well, which also had amazing art. They Make Edward Beard Jr. Proud. |

yeah, it just seems kinda slow. I can see situations where this would be great, like using it on your opponents creatures to gain their abilities and doubling up on broken activated abilities you already have on other creatures. The only thing is it requires a tap to do it and the creature costs 6 mana, so it’s a pretty late game creature. The problem is that by that point in the game your opponent surely would have some sort of removal instant or sorcery speed to deal with him. If he could give +1s the turn he came into play or there were already creatures with pluses in play it would be a little safer so you could at least get something out of him before he gets killed.
On top of all that it would require you to play defensively with him to share abilities and im not too keen on using a 4/6 fatty defensively, but that’s just me. Overall its cool and fun, but not good enough for competitive play IMO(unless he gets some cool friends to go with him in the set) |
