Remember Selesnya-flavour saproling decks?
That's where this card thrives!

Check out this deck list:

// NAME: Raging Saprolings
// CREATOR: Experimental
// CREATED: 2/11/2006 9:34:00 PM
// FORMAT: Standard

// Lands
18 Forest
2 Skarrg, the Rage Pits

// Creatures
4 Birds of Paradise
4 Llanowar Elves
4 Orochi Leafcaller
4 Scion of the Wild
4 Selesnya Guildmage
4 Wild Cantor
4 Ulasht, the Hate Seed

// Enchantments
4 Fists of Ironwood

// Spells
4 Chord of Calling
4 Scatter the Seeds

A lot of fast drops. A lot of mana acceleration. A lot of color generation.

Chord of Calling is also a perfect fit for this deck, because you only ever want to summon Ulasht when there are a lot of creatures in play.

Have thought on Doublin Season and Stomping Ground in case your mana fixers get destroyed?

I avoid Doubling Season because of it's high casting cost. So by the time it's useful, with this deck, the game is pretty much already decided. The mana curve in this deck is pretty delicate, so I've reserved the space for low-cost creature drops.

Stomping Ground is not actually as useful as it seems in this deck. If all the mana fixers are dead, chances are Ulasht is going to be really weak, and you already lost the game.

And kiki, the Leafcallers and Cantors also convert/produce any-colored mana. Then there's also Chord of Calling.

In an average playing of this deck it would go like this:

1st turn: forest, birds of paradise
2nd turn: forest, wild cantor, fists of ironwood
3rd turn: forest, llanowar elves, scion of the wild (at 6/6)
4th turn: ulasht (at 7/7)

or:

1st turn: forest, orochi leafcaller
2nd turn: forest, llanowar elves, wild cantor
3rd turn: forest, llanowar elves, scatter the seeds
4th turn: forest, chord of calling (for ulasht at 8/8)
(with GGGG left for perhaps picking off 4 of your opponent's weenies right off the bat with ulasht's ability)

In an optimal playing of this deck it could go:

1st turn: forest, birds of paradise
2nd turn: forest, elf/bop, elf/bop, wild cantor
3rd turn: rage pits, wild cantor, wild cantor, ulasht (at 9/9)

i like this deck and it is a great idea that he has no mountains cause the creatures like birds and leefcaller can make red if you need to cast him or a chord of calling to just grab him from the deck
this deck does try to optimize the Hate Seed as much as possible its a good casual deck

Here are my suggestions:

-4 Orochi Leafcaller (these are pretty much worthless)
-6 Forest (you don't need that much green)
-1 Chord of Calling (it's good, but it's overcosted and you don't need 4)
-1 Scatter the Seeds (same as Chord)
+2 Umezawa's Jitte (because...WHY THE HELL NOT?)
+4 Kird Ape (a potential 1st turn 2/3)
+4 Stomping Ground (to get out turn 1 ape)
+2 Mountain (to add to the redness)

I think that if you run the deck as per my suggestions, you'll find yourself winning a lot more. It's just a more solid build.

Ulhast isn't anywhere near good enough to warrant playing that many bad cards to fit him into a deck. When you don't find him, you're left with a pile of Leafcallers and Fists of Ironwood. When you do find him, he'll probably just get dealt with anyway. It's a bad card, and it won't ever see play in a competitive deck. It isn't even the best card in that deck, Selesyna Guildmage is.

Your deck has balls well done. You Could look at a convoke based creatures here or rally the righteous and adding value too the mana base.

no offense but that is one of the worst decks ive ever seen. even with a g-d hand it still isnt great. it loses to control, aggro, combo, aggro control, combo control, and aggro combo. and it probaly loses to everything else.

its not pathetic, but it is very casual, just because not everyone can afford or be bothered to buy a GGG deck, doesnt mean that any other deck is crap
