// Deck file for Magic Workstation (http://www.magicworkstation.com)

// Lands
4 [M10] Glacial Fortress
7 [ALA] Island (4)
4 [MOR] Mutavault
3 [SHM] Mystic Gate
4 [SHM] Plains (2)

// Creatures
3 [ALA] Ethersworn Canonist
4 [CFX] Path To Exile
4 [M10] Merfolk Sovereign
4 [LRW] Merrow Reejerey
2 [MOR] Reveillark
4 [LRW] Silvergill Adept
4 [MOR] Stonybrook Banneret
1 [ARB] Wall of Denial

// Spells
4 [LRW] Cryptic Command
4 [MOR] Sage's Dousing
4 [M10] Sleep

// Sideboard
SB: 2 [LRW] Burrenton Forge-Tender
SB: 3 [SHM] Cursecatcher
SB: 3 [M10] Flashfreeze
SB: 3 [CFX] Mark of Asylum
SB: 2 [SHM] Memory Plunder
SB: 2 [ARB] Wall of Denial

With sleep and sovereign coming in with M10 I thought merfolks could maybe have a spot back in the magic scene. So i have been testing merfolk for a few days now and I have had great results. Cascade control is still a hard match up but getting better. The merfolk can also race some of the aggro decks and faeries is insanely hard to beat.

I actually played this exact build casually. I would bet it was against you. My thoughts on the deck were as follows:

1. It did a good job at stalling against cascade if the Ethersworn was not only resolved, but remained in play.

2. It had precious little removal, and ended up chump blocking early if the reerjay didn't remain in play long enough to lock down.

3. Volcanic Fallout hurts.

Otherwise, it's a solid build. Not winning quick enough versus Fae is a hard thing to combat however.

i like very much that pte creature! Very Happy

Other than that it seems a very stable build, still i don't think it'll ever be tier 1, but can give many fine match ups...

Wow, whatta fuck happened to the game? Now Path to Exile can attack too? Shocked

Sygg would be a good fit instead of Wall of Denial/Sleep.

Pretty sure wanderwine hub would be better than plains.

Canonist and Wall of Denial seem wildly out of place in this deck.

I attest to this. Ethersworn takes cascade (as the french would say) sans vasoline.

I don't think Cascade would be a problem if the fish player played correctly. Canonist seems a sideboard card.

canonist makes it so you can't have sick turns with reegery and banneret.
and why does this list have no sygg/wakethrasher interaction or wanderwine hub?
4 sleep seems a bit too many
needs some path to exile

is there anyway i can put more than 4 path of exile in? You don't see it because it is in the creature section, why i have no idea.

After taking some advice here is what i have:

// Deck file for Magic Workstation (http://www.magicworkstation.com)

// Lands
4 [M10] Glacial Fortress
7 [ALA] Island (4)
4 [MOR] Mutavault
3 [SHM] Mystic Gate
4 [LRW] Wanderwine Hub

// Creatures
4 [M10] Merfolk Sovereign
4 [LRW] Merrow Reejerey
3 [MOR] Reveillark
4 [LRW] Silvergill Adept
4 [MOR] Stonybrook Banneret
4 [EVE] Wake Thrasher
3 [SHM] Sygg, River Cutthroat

// Spells
4 [LRW] Cryptic Command
4 [CFX] Path to Exile
4 [MOR] Sage's Dousing

// Sideboard
SB: 3 [M10] Sleep
SB: 2 [LRW] Burrenton Forge-Tender
SB: 3 [SHM] Cursecatcher
SB: 2 [M10] Flashfreeze
SB: 3 [CFX] Mark of Asylum
SB: 2 [SHM] Memory Plunder

Sleep moved to sideboard because it's better sided in. Sygg and wake thrasher are in. Thrasher is a bomb but i am not sure about sygg yet.

Memory plunder as been a big help hitting cryptics, cruels, paths ect.

needs at least 2 more counters, I'd play some vendillion clique too, just because it's awesome.

Sorry, I'm surprised nobody saw this, me included. WHERE THE HELL ARE THE 4x PONDER?!?!

Sygg, River Guide gives you a pre-M10 mana sink and a board advantage with Wake Thrasher!

Raving out for the 4th! Woot for Warehouse parties! Atl holdin' it down!
