Ode_to_Owling_Mine.dec:

4 Snow-Covered Mountain
4 Karplusan Forest
4 Fire-Lit Thicket
4 Reflecting Pool
4 Highland Weald
3 Treetop Village
3 Ghitu Encampment
4 Mutavault

4 Sudden Impact
2 Stormbind

4 Firespout
4 Molten Disaster
4 Sulfurous Blast
4 Howling Mine
4 Rites of Flourishing
4 Spiteful Visions

12 sweepers
12 mine effects

This is a deck idea I got earlier today from someone in the apprentice room running a RU deck that used Spiteful Visions, Shah of Naar Isle, and Ancestral Visions to make the opponent draw to death. Not sure what the name of the deck was but I would have called it double vision Very Happy

The strategy stays same. If they play their hand you wipe the board, meanwhile they take damage from visions comboing with the mine effects saving the impacts, binds, and man-lands as finishers. I went green for the 4 extra mines and firespout; stormbind was an afterthought. Green also gives me some good sb options but I'm still working on that so any input would be helpful.

The deck's done well so far but I've only tested vs aggro decks (U/B Faerie, W/U Merfolk, Kithkin/Mirrorweave, MonoB Rogue, GB elves), MBC, and some rogue decks. Not sure how it will do against ramp style decks, lark, or any pure control decks. I also have a feeling that a Doran may be troublesome on my board sweepers.

So it's basically a RG turbofog? Don't be surprised if people give some hate about it.
The only bad thing with the Shah is that people can choose not to draw cards if they know you're out to deck them.

What about underworld dreams? It combos well with the other draw effects.

It's actually not really like turbofog at all. You'd probably never live long enough to deck someone with this. The idea is to kill them underworld dreams style.

The problem with underworld dreams is BBB. I'd have a hard time playing that as soon as it hit my hand. Also I don't really think that it can be optimally switched for anything currently in the deck, but I might toy around with a BR or UBR version later. Nice idea though.

Heh, I like it. Looks original and fun. Probably a lot of current deck just won't be ready for this kind of nonsense. Maybe Kithchen Finks Maindeck instead of the Disasters.... I don't know. neat deck.

Yea, totally. I thought the same thing. Seems like it can be played around with though.

And I do have to agree with Jacois too. I don't think too many decks will be ready for it. And it really isn't like turbofog at all. It would be a fun curveball in the meta if we can complete it or improve it just a bit.

I think the deck is interesting, I don't understand why you run 30 lands.. also I would definitely play finks and I would cut 2 molten disaster as 4 are too many, also keep in mind that your only way of winning is with direct damage and you have to do that while clearing the board, clearing the board with spells that damage you at the same time mught not be the best solution... that's why I would cut a couple molten disasters and maybe add black for more sideboard options and spot removal such as pacts or shriekmaw.. or you could just play incinerate works as a removal spell and burn... neway I would definitely not play more than 24-25 lands.. and maybe add a couple gaea's blessing to win the game against a control deck which takes care of spiteful visions which is your only realistic win condition...

I posted this in the roguedeck thread a good while ago:

// Deck file for Magic Workstation (http://www.magicworkstation.com)

// Lands
3 [PLC] Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
4 [FUT] Graven Cairns
4 [LRW] Auntie's Hovel
2 [SHM] Reflecting Pool
2 [10E] Sulfurous Springs
2 [SHM] Leechridden Swamp
2 [SHM] Swamp (1)
4 [LRW] Mountain (3)

// Spells
4 [TSB] Darkness
4 [10E] Shock
4 [10E] Incinerate
4 [TSP] Rift Bolt
3 [TSP] Sulfurous Blast
4 [PLC] Damnation
4 [10E] Howling Mine
4 [10E] Underworld Dreams
4 [SHM] Spiteful Visions
2 [SHM] Flame Javelin

// Sideboard
SB: 1 [TSP] Sulfurous Blast
SB: 4 [SHM] Vexing Shusher
SB: 4 [10E] Dragon's Claw
SB: 3 [SHM] Everlasting Torment
SB: 2 [LRW] Wild Ricochet
SB: 1 [FUT] Molten Disaster

It does basically what you have suggested so far.

Any particular bad match-up's for that BR deck?
edit: besides lifegain.

Why I run 30 lands:
-Because this deck needs a land drop every turn, sometimes 2-3 per turn if possible.
-Because manlands are mana intensive, especially after dropping 3-8 mana to clear the board.
-Because it nets me card advantage with rites of flourishing when I don't have to discard.

As for the disasters and blasts, that's just how this deck deals damage. It takes out they're creatures, deals some damage, and clears the way for the manlands. Normally the opponent would die from a disaster before me.

I still haven't played against a control deck or lark,so the blessings may be a good idea but I'm not sure yet. Also the finks are a sb card for sure. I haven't had a problem with killing myself or racing aggro yet so I'm a little hesitant to make room in the main deck for them.

Hey check out wheel of fate. It helps with card draw, even though it's kinda the last thing you need, but it gives you until turn 9 to play visions, underworld dreams, and whatever else, and it can hit them for 7. Possible win condition maybe...
