I don't have the money to upgrade it to the B/G elf deck that's doing well at regionals and stuff (which handy since I'm not planning on attending any tourneys anytime soon), so I came up with a simple elf overwhelm deck:
Not sure about any other useful lands, so I'll use what I have:
1 pendlehaven
4 treetop village
18 forest
2 elvish champion
2 immaculate magistrate
4 Llanowar elves
1 Boreal Druid
1 Drove of Elves
4 Wren's Run Vanquisher
4 Imperious Perfect
4 Thornweald Archers
1 Jagged-Scar Archers
2 Essence Warden
3 Garruk
2 Harmonize
2 Gilt-Leaf Ambush
3 Elvish Promenade
2 Overrun
sb: (Wasn't sure to lean towards anti-counters, or anti-faerie)
2 Jagged-Scar Archers
3 Krosan Grip
2 Cloudthresher
2 Raking Canopy/Squall Line
3 Guttural Response
3 Vexing Shusher
One of it's main problems is that theres no way to stop a wrath. So any help on that would be nice.
Useful suggestions and advice are welcome. |

| Seriously, do you come up with a new idea for a "deck" every single day? |

hey, don't bug on the guy for being creative. Building new decks is pretty damn fun. i try out at least one new idea every single week for our multiplayer group. sure, they aren't all great decks, or even good ideas, but most turn out to be a whole lot of fun.
@skilla: other than changing the focus of your deck to be a little more mid-range and/or adding safehold elite, i can't really think of a good way to protect you from wrath in standard. since you wont be playing any tournies, consider branching out into past sets. The card that comes to mind first here is Caller of the Claw. Elves get much better when you combine the new with the old, and the older ones can be picked up very cheap. Have fun |

Actually this is not a difficult change, go GW you get teeg to stop wrath/damnation

Placed first at the National Qualifier 2008 - Buenos Aires / Argentina, it beat out elves, faeries, and reveillark (the other top 8s) |

lol. so once you make a solid deck you're going to quit?
or is that just one of your eventual goals? |

Thanks, deck making is fun. And I totally forgot about safehold elite, good call.
I don't plan on just playing casual, I'm going to attend a few more DCI FNMs, and I just wanted to go 3-1 with my elf deck again.
And actually the one you suggested aaron seems really interesting. I may give it a go. That's surprising that there's a deck that uses green but no garruk. I think I'll try it.

I didn't mean quit as in never play magic again, I meant it as not dropping huge bucks on competitive decks but to just enjoy casual play.
And going back to the GW, what about tossing in some temporal isolations or o-rings? just a thought.... |

| With that deck you aren't exactly trying to stop what they have, more like keep playing creatures then slap a shield on one and run away with a victory using overrun. |

I would, but I don't for a few reasons:
-It deviates a bit from the tribal theme
-If I get a bad hand, it will come in too late game
-It could easily get countered
-Has 3 white in a mainly green deck.
-Could potentially put too many cards back into my hand and force me to discard some.
It definately is a house, but I haven't seen it played in many top decks or at all really. But it would come in handy after a wrath. We'll see what others have to say. |

| I agree, deckbuilding is a lot of fun. I come up with a lot of ideas that are fun to build a deck around, but are usually pieces of shit. And every single one of those decks doesn't need to be posted on here for critique. And don't tell me to stop reading these posts because I just read basically every thread that comes up. |

| It seems like it would be decent to throw in a Naturalize or two. I use 4 Disenchants in my Monowhite Vintage control deck and it works out ok. I'm pretty amateur at making decks, so you don't have to take my advice. |
