I would tell you that I told all of you so many years ago, so just in case you missed it the 20 times I said it before...Magic is on a downward spiral to its doom.
Mythic Rares...feh...sounds like those uber rares from YGO and Pokemon. While it would be really obsurdly stupid to put weaker or unpopular cards in those slots, it would also be bad to put bombs and chase cards in that slot. The "purple" from Time Spiral was a test of this and they were good cards for the most part or had some purpose..at least most of them did.
One land per pack...sure...whatever...and while they are at it, make them foil and give them special artwork...that way at least they have some collection value to them.
Vintage restrictions....seeing as I feel Vintage to me feels like who ever wins the flip of the coin wins format...I could care less if they banned 50 cards from the format....I am glad I stopped putting money in this game. I play for fun on MWS and netdraft drafts. And to the guy who mentioned WoW....it is a different game and fun, but it has some of the same overpowered card problems MTG had and nothing is restricted that needs to be. Which is why Spoils never lasted long. (If anyone played that) It isn't bad enough WoW is run over with early teen noobs that think that having a level 70 means they are the best but they now give similar power in card games too. I dont care what anyone thinks or says..MTG no longer takes much skill as it used to. Nuff ranting for today...have fun and live long and prosper. |

oil costs nothing to ship mtg cards, it's almost irrelevant
additional gains for them from sales in europe are relevant tho
It's definitely in wizards interest to print a 'universal powerhousecard' in the mythic slot. Tarmo in this slot for FS would have almost doubled(it would be less, but still significantly higher) the amount of FS boosters sold. Simply because all tourney players need 4.
SO it seems to me they will. Probably not right away, but in a year or 2, when the storm goes down and we're gradually adjusting to the change. THey'dd be crazy not to. I don't think a lot of players will quit magic over this. The marketing division will be pressuring RnD to make such a card.
How many people at wizards get a raise when sales go up? Do you really think they're going to try hard to prevent a powerhousecard in the mythic rare slot when their pay goes up when they do make one? |

Of course it's in Wizards' best interest. Otherwise, why would they do it? I'm sure they think they can slide it under the radar by 'wanting to help new players.'
I'm not saying they don't want to help new players, but when it coincides with their interests and an increase in profits, it's a done deal. |
