Mono B Discard with Megrim/Rack is better IMO. Take a look at the topic just below yours. It's ten times better to deal damage that way, instead of using crap creatures like Jotun Grunt or Spectral Lynx.

I'm sorry, jotun grunt and spectral lynx are not crap creatures. Thing is, with rack and megrim, you're just basing your damage output in enchant/artifacts, which are easily destroyed by your enemy. He destroys your enchants and artifacts and then what? Furthermore, in that mono black deck he only used 5 creatures. That won't cut it for most decks, even with damnation to clear the board..

Discard is really good to somepoint but, discard "only" will not make you win the game. That's why I though B/W would give a new fresh air, with some nice creatures ( Jotun grunt just fits in perfectly in this discard type of deck tbh)

PS: Extirpate is good , I should think about that suggestion ^^

EDIT: Anyway, this is supposed to have a slightly diferent playstyle than the mono black. Magic comes with all kinds of options!

Creatures can be stopped with Ensnaring Bridge. Mass artifact/enchanchement destruction is rare, but I do see your point. If I want more sources of damage, stuff like Consume Spirit > creatures for me, but that particular card is for Mono B only.

EDIT: Just saw your edit, I agree Razz

show me your great mono-black with ensnaring bridge.

plus, white tends to have artifact kill in the form of disenchant.

a lot of the decks in the format that are aggro use bounce or artifact removal.

Lands:
18x swamp
1x cabal coffers
4x Desert

Creatures:
4x Ravenous Rats

Artifacts and enchantments:
4x The Rack
3x Ensnaring Bridge
3x Phyrexian Arena
2x Megrim
1x Engineered Plague

Sorcery and Instants:
3x Funeral Charm
2x Extirpate
4x Stupor
4x Duress
3x Damnation
1x Consume Spirit
3x Smallpox

Never said it's "great", just my idea of Mono B discard deck which works for me.

Aaah but Ensnaring Bridge only works for the cards in your hand! That's even more risky !:p If I had the vindicates they could also destroy artifacts, instead of only creatures/enchants but oh well.. And you only have 1 Consume Spirit in your deck :p . That's a pretty low chance to draw LOL..
Have you tested your deck vs fast creature decks? Such as goblins and elves? What were your results?

True, but with this particular deck I usually have no cards in hand anyway. Just blast away. 1 Consume Spirit is there "just in case", it's not like I desperately need it or something.

Bridge usually takes care of zerg rushing goblins and elves. My opponent can only remove it if he has a lucky draw, because he almost never has any cards in hand. Arena gives me a good enough chance to get multiple Bridges. So I sit back and let Rack eat him. Yum. Deserts help too Smile

I like the deck Smile I have a similar version:

// Lands
4 [GP] Godless Shrine
4 [ON] Flooded Strand
4 [ON] Windswept Heath
3 [UNH] Plains
3 [UNH] Swamp
1 [TSP] Flagstones of Trokair
1 [UNH] Forest
1 [RAV] Temple Garden
1 [RAV] Overgrown Tomb

// Creatures
4 [RAV] Dark Confidant
4 [TSP] Serra Avenger
3 [SOK] Descendant of Kiyomaro
4 [AP] Spectral Lynx
4 [FUT] Tarmogoyf

// Spells
4 [AP] Gerrard's Verdict
4 [AP] Vindicate
4 [ON] Smother
3 [BOK] Umezawa's Jitte
4 [LRW] Thoughtseize

// Sideboard
SB: 3 [SOK] Pithing Needle
SB: 3 [SOK] Kataki, War's Wage
SB: 4 [TSB] Tormod's Crypt
SB: 4 [US] Duress

Not sure if it fits your budget if you don't even have BW's signature vindicate though.
Oh yeah it's not so much discard, but more aggro control with some hand disruption. Spectral Lynx is amazing don't say it's crap.

haha great deck mate! But yeah it does go over my budget by a LOT :p .. Those are some tough cards to get ( Even by buying.. only thoughtseize goes for almost 20€ in my nearest magic store! Not even gonna mention goyf Shocked ...). But well, we have to deal with what we have =)

So uhm, does anyone have any suggestion to improve my deck instead of presenting a completely new one ( Not criticising, I enjoyed watching your decks :p) ?

I need to know if it could be improved anyhow or if it could stand well against a nice variety of decks this way.

EDIT: Didnt want to triple post.. Is Shrieking Grotesque a good option for my deck? Or it might be again too much discarding?

I'd say grotesque is by far better then ravenous rats, because it's also quite an aggresive beater.
Too bad you can't afford confidants, but there is an upside to that as well, because now you can safely play 1-2 tombstalker. This guy is a great finisher who will we playable pretty fast with all the spells you use. The card isn't that expensive either.

Oh yeah death grasp is not a good card in an aggresive deck, i'd use smother or chainer's edict instead.

Creatures:
2 Tombstalker
3 Jotun Grunt
3 Descendant of kiyomaro
3 Nezumi Shortfang
4 Shrieking Grotesque
4 Spectral Lynx

Spells:
4 Duress
4 Cabal Therapy
4 Gerrard's Verdict
4 Smother
3 Phyrexian Arena
4 Mortify

Something like this? I was using Death Grasp cause, not only can do some damage to any creature but can regain mine, for the loss in phyrexian arena + opponent damage. I thought maybe Kiyomaro and gerrard couldn't handle it Confused
