Why do people smoke?

I have not met a doctor who smokes. Nor a nurse or pharmacist. But I do not know too many doctors, nurses, or pharmacists.

I do know a lot of toxicologists. None of them smoke.

These people a) are doing it because they are addicted/ stressed, not because it makes them look cool, and b) probably don't exist.
