Look at the two other threads on this first page of the T2 forum which are dealing with mono black control

"mono black control type goodness"

and

"mono b control"

They should help you getting started.

... normally, people come with a deck idea (60 or 75 cards), having tested it, and want improvements. Starting at scratch with no idea where you are going is not a good idea on a forum. What on earth are we going to comment upon?

The best thing you can do is to look at what other people are playing, figure out why they do so, and build a deck like the one you like best. Or eventually build something that beats the decks you think you will meet at FNM or whatever.

22 lands are not nearly enough. 24 is minimum. In addition, 2 Phyrexian Totem are not enough mana acceleration. A total of 28 mana sources are probably necessary.

Mortivore is very situational, which is not a good thing in a control deck.

Hypnotic Spectre isn't very good anymore.

Nameless Inversion is a lot better than Sudden Death.

The fact that mono-black control does not have card drawing is the reason that it is not normally played right now. Mind Stone helps, but not nearly enough.

Tombstalkers are better.

Look at the other two threads about mono-black control here on the forum.
