|
I played in the trial yesterday, and with others recently posting deck lists, I thought I would do the same just to try and generate some sealed discussion. I won the trial with this pool:
Land:
Wanderwine Hub
Spinerock Knoll
Vivid Marsh
Artifacts:
Deathrender
Herbal Poultice
Black:
Boggart Harbinger
Hornet Harasser
Nath’s Buffoon
Quill Slinger Boggart
Bog Hoodlums
Shriekmaw
Boggart Loggers x2
Exiled Boggart x2
Nightshade Stinger x2
Squeaking Pie Sneak
Boggart Birth Rite
Fodder Launch
Thieving Sprite
Eyeblight’s Ending
Nameless Inversion
Red:
Ingot Chewer
Adder-Staff Boggart
Axegrinder Giant
Blind Spot Giant
Chandra Nalaar
Inner Flame Acolyte x2
Lowland Oaf
Mudbutton Torchrunner
Soulbright Flamekin
Stinkdrinker Daredevil
Lash Out
Tarfire
Green:
Battlewand Oak
Bog Strider Ash
Elvish Eulogist x3
Fertile Ground
Fistful of Force
Lace With Moonglove
Lammastide Weave
Woodland Guidance
Woodland Changeling
White:
Cenn’s Heir
Cloudgoat Ranger
Dawnfluke
Goldmeadow Harrier
Kithkin Harbinger
Kithkin Healer x2
Neck Snap
Oblivion Ring
Pollen Lullaby x2
Soaring Hope
Triclopean Sight x2
Wispmare
Blue:
Amoeboid Changeling
Cryptic Command
Faerie Harbinger
Broken Ambitions
Familiar’s Ruse
Mulldrifter
Scattering Stroke
Silvergill Adept
Spellstutter Sprite
Stonybrook Angler
Steambed Aquatects
Tideshaper Mystic
Zephyr Net
As you can see, this card pool is very strong. This didn’t surprise me though – many of the cards in Lorwyn seem to be focused on ramping up the card quality of limited. I also had many close matchups throughout the day with removal and bomb rares being tossed all over the place. Here’s the decklist I went with:
9x Mountain
7x Swamp
1x Vivid Marsh
1cc:
Boggart Birth Rite
Tarfire
2cc:
Adder-Staff Boggart
Nath’s Buffoon
Squeaking Pie Sneak
Soulbright Flamekin
Lash Out
Nameless Inversion
3cc:
Blind Spot Giant
Boggart Harbinger
Inner-Flame Acolyte x2
Stinkdrinker Daredevil
Eyeblight’s Ending
4cc:
Hornet Harasser
Lowland Oaf
Quill-Slinger Boggart
Fodder Launch
Deathrender
5cc:
Chandra Nalaar
Shriekmaw
6cc:
Axegrinder Giant
Some thoughts/Questions:
1. Should I have run vivid marsh? I didn’t really need the mana fixing and occasionally the CiPT was harmful.
2. Should I have run Spinerock Knoll “just in case?”
3. I should have definitely run the Boggart Loggers over the Inner Flame Acolytes. Almost every deck had at least one relevant target for the loggers. In my defense, I was thinking they were 1/3 for some reason, rather than 2/1, and if I had noticed they were 2/1 during deckbuilding, I would have included them. They ended up sided in just about every match.
4. Blind-Spot Giant was a horrible choice. I guess I was so pleased about having Axegrinder, Lowland Oaf and Stinkdrinker Daredevil, the Blind-Spot snuck in when he shouldn’t have.
5. The white in this pool made me sad. There were so many amazing cards – harrier, o-ring, neck snap – that I really wanted to play it, but it just didn’t have the quality two drops you need in sealed.
6. Should I have cut two cards (probably Quill-Slinger Boggart and Blind-Spot Giant) for a splash of Neck Snap and Oblivion Ring (and perhaps Pollen Lullaby if I ran into any devoted aggro).
7. Bog Hoodlums – does anyone play with this card? Compare to Dross Crocodile.
If I had to do it again, I’d try:
-1 Mountain
-1 Vivid Marsh
-1 Inner-Flame Acolyte
-1 Blind Spot Giant
+2 Boggart Loggers
+2 Swamp
Or:
-1 Mountain
-1 Swamp
-2 Inner-Flame Acolyte
-1 Blind Spot Giant
-1 Quill Slinger Boggart
+2 Plains
+2 Boggart Loggers
+1 Oblivion Ring
+1 Neck Snap
Any other thoughts? |

| I agree with the splashing mulldrifter. Splashing 2 white cards especially when one is necksnap is no where near as good as the drifter. |
