In testing a deck, I'm having trouble with abilities that find a card from my library without revealing it. I'm not sure whether it's a software limitation or if I just don't understand the software. Either way, I appreciate informative responses.

With library-search spells and abilities, I normally grab the card I want, put it into the play area temporarily, close (and shuffle) my library, and put the card wherever it belongs.

"Hideaway" lands let their user search the top of their controller's library for a card to place into its own removed from game pile face down. My interpretation is that if I use hideaway, my opponent never gets to see the card I pull until I actually play it. My opponent is allowed to know which card is in hideaway; he just can't see that card's identity.

In a game with physical cards, I would lay the card face-down in the play area next to the land so no one would forget the attachment. In Magic Workshop, though, I don't seem able to play a card from my library to play without revealing it to my opponent, and the standard removed-from-game pile is public. I might try momentarily placing the card into my hand and playing it face-down, but then my opponent has no way of knowing that I didn't swap it for a card already in my hand.

Similar issue with Illiana's tutor ability, except the card ultimately goes on top of my library instead of to a removed-from-game pile.

This seems like a fairly obvious (however obscure) dilemma, but a search of the forums didn't turn up anything. How are other people dealing with this issue? Thanks!

to put something from your library to play facedown (like when using vampiric tutor) shift + dragging it will do. to use hideaway, just keep the card facedown next to the land.

EDIT: some more useful short-cuts... ctrl + alt + D draws a card from bottom, shift + drag into library puts it on the bottom, AND using Shift in addition to all the non-card manipulation shortcuts (like drawing, shuffling) will use it on the opponent in solitaire mode.

make sure to "set note..." on the facedown card so theres no confusion because you would be at fault.

What, in case I try to play the cup-and-ball trick with my face-down cards? Step right up, folks. The hand is quicker than the eye. Which of these three cups is concealing the hideaway card? Step right up for the most aMAZing bit of prestidigitation you'll EVER see.

Okay okay, I'll set a note. Thanks.
